Link building for dummies

First there are many ways you can build your backlinks online and you need to be aware of these, first though, it's best to see what linking strategy you are going to specialise in.

Are you a social networker?

Social networks can build up an online reputation and one that can be targeted towards what you want, the niche market that you define is were you start, nearly all social networks have a blogging platform, but even if they don't for whatever reason the profile page will do.

if your blog or social networking profile page supports html code, then a basic text link will look like this:

<a href="http://www.yourwebsite.com">Any text here!!</a>

remembering in the text part to add solid keywords targeted to your subjects main content, also next to the link you may add a small description, this should be different in every seperate link you place and so should your anchor text in your links.

Now another important thing to take note of is that any images on your website or blog can be indexed too in the search engines and any videos that you create can also be linked back to it's original source or one you link to.

Images in code format have an "alt tag" were you can add a small keyword description which would of course be your main keyword or keyword phrase.

Link Directories In The Right Categories

Placing your links in link directories can also improve your traffic, but you need to place them in the correct sub categories and you will need to add your links to more than a couple, maybe do a search to see what the PR ( page rank) of the link directories are, so that the higher they are ranked the chances of adding further value to your links may be increased, although don't rely on this as other methods should be combined with the link submission method.

There are many free link directories out there, as it's best not to pay any money for ad placement until you are confident in getting the right results from paid classified ads.

Article Marketing - Recommended Method

One of the best forms of traffic building and link building is writing an article that relates to your sites content and then linking it back, do a search for article directories and submit your best articles to the best article directories ( usually the top results in google!)

The long term benefits of article submissions is greatly increased if you research your chosen keywords and include them in your articles title and article body.
