Tea supplements have long been used by the health-conscious among us, a natural way to enjoy a detox, relax, or simply enjoy an afternoon pick-me-up with a lightly caffeinated drink. Tea has traditionally been used in Eastern medicine as an antioxidant and powerful health tonic, and now various supplements and dietary aids focus on the tea's natural powers to lose weight. Lipotea is a relatively new diet pill that is a combination of green, oolong, white, and black teas. When these are taken independently in their natural state, they do offer numerous health benefits. Lipotea is designed to capture all of these benefits in one convenient pill. But does it work, and how effective is it for losing weight?

Key Ingredients in Lipotea

Lipotea is simply a combination of the four different types of tea: Green Tea, Oolong Tea, White Tea, and Black Tea. Each capsule provides a caffeine boost (from the green tea) which provides energy. Green tea is also rich in EGCG, a natural antioxidant that has shown very positive results in anti-aging formulas and encouraging weight loss.

Oolong tea has long been used in Chinese medicine as a ‘balancing' tea, and studies suggest it may play a positive role in controlling obesity. Oolong tea has also been linked to an improved metabolism.

White tea is one of the most expensive types of tea available, and is also the least processed. It has shown varying positive results in research studies, and many people drink white tea in combination with green tea for even more potent benefits

Black tea is used in both Eastern and Western cultures as a simple hot beverage, and is also a powerful anti-oxidant. Some studies suggest that black tea can lower stress levels, and this may help with anyone trying to lose weight.

Why Take Lipotea Instead of Drinking Real Tea?

Unless you're an avid drinker, taking a supplement may prove to be more cost-effective than finding sources for each type of tea. The supplement provides 100 mg of White, Oolong, and Black teas, along with 350 mg of Green Tea. According to the manufacturer of Lipotea, the proprietary blend is made with ‘highly potent tea extracts.' This may make it simpler to take a supplement instead of drinking each type of tea throughout the day. The ‘compound' effect is also a benefit; anyone taking Lipotea can absorb all four ingredients at the same time, instead of spacing them out throughout the day. Since Lipotea does contain a high dose of caffeine, some people may experience:

• Nervousness

• Anxiety

• Jitteriness

• Periods of increased stress

Does Lipotea Actually Help with Weight Loss?

Lipotea has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, and anyone taking Lipotea can experience varying benefits. Lipotea is simply a combination of standardized extracts of pure tea; it is a powerful formula that does deliver caffeine, but no clinical trials to date suggest that taking it leads to weight loss. Some studies do suggest that green and black tea have a positive effect on weight loss, but these have yet to be confirmed.
