I've read a lot of books in my life. Being an avid reader, I have come across some very good and very bad books. I'm one of those people who has to finish what I start, so no matter how bad a book is, I read it cover to cover. The worst book I've read is by one of my favorite authors, Stephen King.

I don't know if The Tommyknockers by Stephen King seemed so bad because I expected more or because it was bad, but I suspect the latter. Each chapter dragged on and on and it seemed it would never end. The characters were so unlikeable that halfway through the book I realized I didn't care whether they lived or died. I couldn't relate to them and didn't care what happened to them.

With all the excellent books out there waiting to be read, I wasted my time with this, hoping it would get better. It didn't. And to make matters worse, network television made a miniseries from The Tommyknockers, which I also wasted my time with. I thought it could only be an improvement on the book. I was wrong.

I am a huge Stephen King fan as well. I found Tommyknockers to be bearable - but just. I read that book about a hundred years ago, but the last scene with the main character's intestines splayed all over the control panel has haunted me ever since (and not in a good way)! I just joined Hubpages and wrote a post about how much the Dark Tower series disappointed me. Next to that, probably the book I liked of his the least was 'Needful Things.' I can't remember much about the book except that I didn't care for it. However, Duma Key and Lisey's Story have gone a long way towards redeeming Mr. King in my book.
