Okay parents...

Okay parents,if you have a teenager, read this carefully.Because this is something that you want to know and who better than to tell you then a real life teenager huh??

Well first of all, every teenager will come to a time when they need to be heard. And i know parents have the issue of actually listening. And let me tell you what i mean by listening.DO NOT judge your teen by what they are telling you and don't interrupt with a lot of questions. And DONT get mad at them.Whatever they are telling you, they came to you to get your understanding, not to have a parent yelling at them. They want you to listen and to understand, like a best friend would. You should be proud they even came to you to talk to you about the subject.

If your teen gets into trouble wether illegal or breaking house rules or just doing something wrong. The first thing out of you mouth should not be yelling at them or don't say something like" don't want to talk to you right now"or anything that is mean.If anything ask if they are okay. And also,as soon as you see them don't say anything about them being grounded because that is just an argument waiting to happen. When you talk to them about what they did,ask them why they did it and keep your cool.Try to understand why they did it.Don't make assumptions about anything about it.Make sure you tell them,in a non -threatening way or angry tone, that what they did is wrong and why it is wrong.Do not repeat yourself. That drives any teen crazy when their parent repeats themselves because then it just gets annoying.Make it clear how you feel about what they did,but keep your cool. And don't forget this all involves that listening thing i just got done talking about. Then after this discussion is coming to a close give them their punishment.Don't go off the wall with the punishments.Do what you think is fit for the issue.

These are the main issues between parents and their children, but if you have an issue you need help with feel free to email me or leave me a comment.I would be happy to help.
