Listening to God / Saving them one at a time
50Falling in Grace
Dear Brothers and Sisters. I have got to tell you about what
happened last nite! I was at a friends house watching a movie,
We were about an hour into it and the
computer stopped working. Amy said, "I will just get
our other computer." Try as she could she could not get
the movie to work. As her husband and her struggled with
it, I said well it looks like God is telling me to go
now.
They said, "Oh we'll get it." I said; "No, I believe
I really need to go." (you know how hard it is to leave in
the middle of a movie but I felt I really needed to go). On
the way home, I was less than a mile from my house and
I just felt like I really wanted some ice cream. I asked the
Lord if I should go home or get ice cream.(I do talk to the
Lord like that all the time. AND most of the time, the Holy
Spirit ansxers me. (Don't you talk to Him like that?) It was
about 10:40 pm. I felt like I should go get the ice cream.
Drove out of my way about a mile to the Shell station on
Cavalcade and the 1-45 Frwy. I walked in and picked out
the ice cream, placed it on the counter. The man who I know
as Joe looked up and said. Oh, it's you, I am so glad you are
here,(he knows that I minister under a bridge every night.)
Please pray for me and please stay a little while, there
are people coming in who are reallly giving me a spiritual
"battle"; 'I want to turn it into a(he makes a fist and slams
it into his own hand) 'physical battle!" I wanted to counsel
him, but several customers came in. Some were transvetites
and others appeared to be homosexual. (The way they were
dressed, the way they talked and their mannerisms and
interaction with each other.) I just stood silently,
and prayed. After about 20 minutes of non-stop activity and
intercessory prayer, I suddenly said to him. I need to go now
and I rushed out.
As I was driving and lamenting to the Lordabout how there
are so many people in darkness and so lost,
and asking Him what we should do about it. (I felt so
insulated from their darkness while in my vehicle because
I did not have to see or hear these people) I thought how can I
I help even at a time like this. (11:05 now). I was traveling
north on the feeder road. I came to the stop sign.
My intention was to turn right, but I felt the Lord urge me
to look left and up.
As I looked up in the darkness to the top of the overpass. I
saw a body hanging off the bridge. I thought I detected some
lights flashing above it and then I saw someone bent over
the side of the bridge holding on to this person. I turned my
vehicle left and rolled down my window for a better look. I
could see it was a woman being held by a guy and he was
obviously losing his grip on her. I had just time to say;
"OH LORd Help! Then He put in my mind to drive under where
she was hanging. I did (in doing so I was going into the
opposite lane of traffic, although no car was coming at
the time. As I gaged where to stop my truck, I got out to see
if I had gaged it correctly and she fell.
She fell right onto the top of my cab and then
catapulted into the back of the truck landing on the altars
and the lumber that were back there. I went immediately
to the other side of the truck where her head was and began
talking to her. I said your going to be alright, What is your
name? She said La Shonda" ;Why were you up there
hanging from the bridge?". She said. "My husband doesn't
love me anymore and doesn't want me anymore and I
don't have anything to live for. I stroked her head as she
laid upon the altars in the back of my truck and I said;.
"LaShonda."
You cannot put all your hope and trust and love into
one human person. But the Lord Jesus loves you very much.
He loves you so much he sent me to drive a truck under you
just before you fell so you would be alright. I then began
praying for her and asked her if she Knew Jesus, She said
she did and then as I prayed, it seemed she went into a
peaceful trance, I whispered louder to her and touched her
face so she wouldn't lose consciousness but she had such a
peaceful smile that I knew the Lord was ministering to her.
The Police came about 5 minutes later and just before the
paramedics got to her , I was able to whisper, "You have so
much to live for, and God has so much for you to do,
LaShonda." Her smile was back and well lots of police, so
I did not get to speak with her anymore but as I was thinking
back about it I remembered telling her that she was saved
tonite again by the cross. She landed on it after the top
of the truck broke her fall. The answer to my lamentive
question I had just asked God. I discern it to be: "Keep
bringing them to the cross. Keep saving them. One at a time."
My prayer is that every Christian will get God's answer.
