73New Pet Products Help Solve House Training Problems
Housebreaking, house training, or toilet training are some of the biggest reasons animals are relinquished to shelters and lose their homes.
The house training problem is not just one that involves young animals as soiling in the home can arise as an animal ages, or returns from surgery, or has recently been prescribed medication--or stopped taking it.
Unfortunately there is not a flat answer to this type of problem but most house training problems can be attributed to a few underlying situations that trigger the problem. Once you determine the cause the right solution can be applied.
I am not going to outline all of the contributing reasons to house training problems here because I am going to discuss dog toilet training systems and you can get more house training information elsewhere.
Let me just stress that pets need a quality diet, and the proper tools or products to assist in house training.
Severe house training cases may take eight to twelve weeks to address, but if you get the right help and use the right tools, you can usually solve the problem quickly.
One of the newest trends in house training puppies and dogs began to gain momentum around 2004 and several new products have emerged on the pet product market recently for toilet training dogs and puppies.
Below I discuss some of the most popular ones on the market today.

I've always been an advocate of teaching an animal to use a toilet area. This is an area that an animal uses to relieve itself and makes the "poop patrol" and clean up easier for the pet parent.
A new twist to this involves indoor toileting solutions for dogs. The good thing about these tools is that they are ideal in a variety of settings--on a boat for instance.
Litter training systems are perfect for apartment dwellers, people who live in areas where it isn't a good idea to go out at night, and for elderly or disabled persons who have trouble getting the dog out in a timely manner.
WizDog The WizDog System is simple--a durable plastic pan and fitted grate. While other products range from $150 to about $500 WizDog is also one of the better priced options on the market at about $40.
The liquid waste dispenses through the grate onto newspaper or pee pad, separated from your dog's paws. I've also heard that the grate is easy to clean. WizDog also does not require the purchase of litter refill or pads as you can use newspaper just as well as the WizDog abosorption pads.
The Pet-A-Potty One of the earliest systems on the market it includes a drainage system and concealed trap pan. I heard that the grass is sold seperately so check if you decide to order this product.
The Pet Loo The Pet Loo has been on the market for a couple of years. It features a slanted ramp with grooves under the grass so drainage of the urine is guided into a removable tray. The grass lifts off for easy cleaning but I've heard people complain about the grass quality.
The Throne One of the newest pet products on the market is The Throne by Royal Hound. The company took a look at the failings of the other products out there and made a sturdier, more customer friendly product. Included in the purchase is the easy-to-clean synthetic grass designed so that waste immediately runs through to the tray below (the tray pulls out for easy cleaning). The Throne comes in a variety of sizes and accommodates up to 200 lbs.
The PupHead The PupHead uses is another litter training system that usings a uniue grass blend to help fight odors and provide a cleaner environment for the pet. This product almost level with the ground and comes with an attractant scent to lure dogs to use it. Pup-Head company people say that no replacement pads or grass are needed.

nice to see alternatives all side by side
When I first got my dogs the first thing I was adamant about doing was making sure they were housetrained so they could stay in the house rather than the yard. These look like interesting products and can be helpful for people living in small apartments without a yard. I'd love to see some in depth reviews of people who use these products on a daily basis.

Great post. If your dog is not trained, you're not going to love them as much as they deserve. My dogs are okay in this department. But if we had housebreaking difficulties, I would do myself - and my little buddies - a favor by checking out these training products.
