Little Girl’s Bedroom Decor: Ideas for Decorating a Room with a Fairy Theme
79
Almost every little girl dreams of living the life of a fairy princess, and every little girl deserves to have a bedroom worthy of a magical fairy from a faraway land. It is possible to give a little girl the bedroom of her dreams by decorating her room in a fairy theme. There are a number of easy, inexpensive, and creative ways of decorating a bedroom in a fairy theme without spending a small fortune in the process. Consider the following ideas for decorating a room with a fairy theme, and make your little girl’s decorating dreams come true.
Make an Inexpensive Canopy Bed
A fairy theme is centered on lots of lace, glitter, jewels, and gems, and a little girl’s bedroom decorated in a fairy theme should include a beautiful canopy bed that makes her feel special. Canopy beds can be quite expensive, but a store-bought canopy bed is not necessary to give a little girl the bed of her dreams. All it takes is a swing-arm curtain rod, several yards of netting, and embellishments such as faux gems, craft store jewels, and fine glitter.
Begin by centering a swing-arm curtain rod approximately four feet above the head of the bed. Top the curtain rod with approximately six yards of netting in a color that coordinates well with the room. The excess netting will create a puddle of fabric on the floor, and it will provide a luxurious canopy that any little girl will absolutely love. Embellish the canopy with self-adhesive faux gems, or cover the netting with spray-on adhesive topped with fine iridescent glitter. It will look just as good as or better than a store-bought canopy, and your little girl will feel like a magical fairy princess in her very own bed.
Bedding Ideas
A bedroom decorated in a fairy theme does not require character bedding to look impressive. Avoid character bedding that will become outdated in a matter of months, and opt for solid-colored bedding including a comforter, a bed skirt, and lacy pillow shams. Make the bed more luxurious to fit the fairy theme by including several accent pillows of various shapes, colors, and textures. If your little girl loves a particular character, give her what she wants and select one or two accent pillows shaped like that character instead of an entire bedding set that will soon become obsolete. A truly impressive little girl’s bedroom includes colorful bedding and accents that grow with the child.

Create a Faux Jewel Fairy Lamp
Lighting is an important consideration when doing any type of decorating, and when decorating a little girl’s bedroom in a fairy theme, choose simple pastel colored jar-style table lamps that can be embellished in fun and creative ways. Besides jar-style lamps in green, pink, blue, or yellow, you will require faux gems in various colors and shapes, clear drying epoxy, and a miniature fairy figurine that can be attached to the base of each lamp.
Begin by gluing faux gems to the lampshade. Either space the gems evenly, or cover the entire lampshade with dozens of colorful faux jewels. Inexpensive faux gems are sold by the bag in craft stores, and they come in a wide variety of unique colors and styles.
Lastly, attach a beautiful fairy figurine to the base of the lamp. Attach it to the front of the lamp base using strong epoxy glue, and allow the glue to dry completely before handling. Creating fairy lamps for a little girl’s bedroom using faux gems and beautiful figurines will save a considerable amount of money over buying lamps of similar style from the store. Best of all, this lamp will be completely original and worth far more in more ways than one.
