Little Lives (A Confessional Poem)
63Little Lives
I've led a lot of little lives
and somehow they're connected
by all the women I have known
and loved, but then neglected.
All their spirit, all their joy,
I've savored and collected.
In fact, my memory bank
is full of ex's disrespected.
I'd get them high on wit and thigh
and love it until the expected.
This 'love' runs dry, they start to cry...
but my focus is redirected,
Hold 'em tight, tell 'em "it's alright"
when their Love I have rejected?
I tell you I can't go on like this,
I need to be corrected.
For I've led a lot of 'little lives'
yet somehow not infected.
Instead I live with my disease,
O guilty heart! Affected.

Thanks for the kind words.
Great poem! I love the idea of living "little lives", and I think we can all relate but maybe just not in the same way. Smart, funny and artistic. Not bad.
It's lovely, Jamie. Very sad.
(Especially in the aftermath of the "Sex and the City" marathon that my daughter insisted we watch together this weekend!)
I love this line: I'd get them high on wit and thigh
Oh at least you're honest. That BS doesn't work with me, I tell them to stick it in a food processor and hit puree
Thumbs up from me!
