People do buy Christmas trees for Christmas but they have become more eco-friendly nowadays. They want to get the trees without affecting the environment. They feel bad about cutting the trees from the trunk and having the tree for one week of Christmas and then throwing out. Then you should go for buying real Christmas trees with roots.

Given below are some of the ideas we shared, that you have to consider before buying the Christmas trees.

People will stop digging of Christmas trees with roots, once the ground started freezing. There are also nurseries or farms where they plant the trees in pots from where you can get the tree. So, you have to get the tree some weeks before the Christmas and also look for some place outside your house. These trees can’t be kept inside the house for more than 7-10 days. If the tree is kept for a couple of weeks inside the house then it will die.

Preferably the trees can be kept inside the house for 3-5 days so that the buds will be inactive and then when moving outside the tree will avoid “winter kill”

Plan ahead when the tree can be planted in your house. The holiday season is the best suited time to plant the trees. Or else you have to safeguard the tree outside your house before planting it. When it has to be kept outdoor for a while then look for the soil where you are about to plant it. The soil in which you are going to plant the tree should be suitable for the growth of the tree. You have to look for whether these kinds of trees are local to that region or else you have to choose the one that suits the environment. Because some trees will grow to a height of 40-60 feet. If the region is not favorable for the coniferous trees e.g. arid region then depending on the environment we can choose the one which suits it. Like we can go for a drought-tolerant trees e.g. Arizona cypress. Also if you can’t plant it at your home then you can get permission from your neighbor, friend or an organization to have them.

One more point to be kept in the mind is that these trees will weight much than the trees which are cut from the stem. As these trees will have root and soil they weigh much and care is needed to keep the root moist. A tree of height 5-6 feet will weigh approximately 200lbs. Also, that it is better to buy a tree, only if it is portable. While moving, it shouldn’t cause any damage to the house or the tree itself. It would be best to buy a tree in container if you feel like you will have a problem moving the tree around. .
