Photographs by Richard Cosgrove-Bray

The photographs here are all from Richard Cosgrove-Bray's portfolio of early work, when he was a student taking a B/Tec in photography.

These photos depict a Liverpool which is fast disapearing beneath of wave of much-needed modernisation.  The picture quality of some of the original prints has deteriorated a little, unfortunately, but I've tweaked them on my computer to sharpen the images when needed.

We both hope you'll enjoy looking through these images.

Maritime Past and Present

Many barges once travelled from the various Liverpool docks along the Manchester Ship Canal, carrying cargo. This became a way of life for numerous Romany families, forced off the roads by a changing society.

What fabulous photos! It's photo-journalism to the core, telling a myriad of stories, one must stop and read every image. I thoroughly love it! Thanks!

Thank you for sharing these wonderful black and white photos!! I enjoyed viewing as it brought back memories of when I was thirteen and used to sit on the floor in the middle of the photography isle of the public library and thumb through old Time Life books. That's what inspired me to become a photographer myself,....viewing all the old classics such as Man Ray, Penn, Avedon, Cartier Bresson and many more. Nice Work!! Peace~K

I'm glad you all enjoyed the photos. Many of these places exist only in photographs now, as Liverpool is changing rapidly.
