Who is Aphrodite?

My wife of course! How can this be? Well read on.

Some Background on Aphrodite

Aphrodite - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aphrodite (Greek: φροδίτη; Latin: Venus) (pronounced /ˌæfrəˈdaɪti/; Ancient Greek: IPA: [apʰɾoˈdiːtɛː], Modern Greek: [afɾoˈðiti]) is the classical Greek goddess of love, sex, and beauty. According to Greek oral poet Hesiod, she was born when Uranus was castrated by his son Cronus. Cronus threw his severed genitals into the sea, and from the aphros (sea foam) arose Aphrodite.

Aphrodite is also known as Kypris and Cytherea after the two places, Cyprus and Kythira, which claim her birth. Her Roman equivalent is the goddess Venus. Myrtle, dove, sparrow, and swan are sacred to her

Because of her beauty, other gods feared that jealousy would interrupt the peace between them and lead to war, and so Zeus married her to Hephaestus who was not viewed as a threat. However, Aphrodite became instrumental in the Eros and Psyche legend, and later was both Adonis' lover and a surrogate mother.

Life with her

It is said Aphrodite could make any man fall in love with her by them just laying eyes on her. And this is exactly what happened to the author of this Hub.

The Greek Gods and Goddesses lost most of their temples after the Romans sacked the Island in about 146 bc. Though the cults continued, throughout time, they eventually lost their followers. With out the energy created by followers, the Gods and Goddesses knew they would perish, fading into the mists.

Several of them, decided to use the last of their energy to become semi mortals. That is, they would become mortal, though continue to live on through reincarnation. It is with this, that we find the Greek Goddess of love, alive and well in the 21st Century.

And it is the fortune, or misfortune, (as there are two sides to every coin, every blessing, as we know from all forms of mythology, be they Greek myths or Fables) that I met this Greek Goddess of love, and fell in love with her. There are so many benefits of living with a goddess. Living with her is such a boon on my libido. At almost 42 years of mortal age, most men loose interest in the actual physical act of sex. Oh they still like to look at a nicely stacked woman and think lude thoughts, but they are not as into performing as much as they used to. This is probably a good thing for them, as the mechanics don’t tend to work as well as they used to. Fortunately for those who still have some burning desire to act out on their Machismo, we now have Viagra. Viagra is a synthesized form of Ginko Biloba. The root of the plant causes blood to circulate through the brain more freely, (this is why it was deemed the smart drug). Well older men tend to need help getting blood to circulate in both of their heads.

Fortunately living with the Greek Goddess of love, this is not so much of a problem.

With Age

With age, she changes. Oh yes, she has such a classic body, the look of which drives me to no ends. But she constantly shifts. Her body in perpetual metamorphosis, constantly changing. Sometimes her breasts, fuller, sometimes changing polarity. Her whole body shifts. She is never the same woman week to week. She has refined her neck and back by this incarnation. But like old men, could it be that an old goddess (of several thousand years, not to mention, partially mortal) has lost some of her power, unable to hold the same body? Or has she refined the ability to shift shape to keep her man always looking for differences?

Hardships endured

It is not easy living with such a powerful goddess.  Imagine being the pawn to the powers of one of the greatest goddesses from Mt. Olympus.  It is not the position for a week man.  Though even the strongest, may not survive intact.

Goddess of Love, Sex and Beauty

Set fire to a hungry beating wing

Pet it and tame it and put it down again

My heart calls out the shape of your name

See me in my fragile state pouring through eyes ablaze

Where time and reason are in veiled disguise

Tender caressing your skin meets mine

Concentric embers spark at your thighs

My head in the clouds of your florid smile

What you’ve done to me you’ve done before

Yet like the other times always more

Is it a Curse, or Blessing?

Time and time again, I look at her and rise to the occasion. She, not chained by the conventions of pure mortality, finds herself busy with goddess work. I being mere mortal, cannot help but be overwhelmed by this goddess. Daily. What would satiate a younger, virile man, does not placate me for long. But upon seeing or thinking of my goddess, my hunger rises. But being a goddess of great importance, I find her too busy to be bothered. Were that she not beleaguered with her goddess work, I should surly die from exhaustion. This is the blessing and curse of living with the Greek Goddess of Love.

 Oh my siren

So sweetly singing

Desire of the minds eye

Ethereal connections bring fervor

Perfect in shape and texture

What rocks upon your shore

To dash myself upon

Only to come back for more

I love this! It's informative and very funny! How fortunate for a mortal like you to have captured the attentions of a goddess, and how fortunate for her that you recognize her as a goddess. :) That's a win/win situation if I've ever seen one, and it's beautiful how you regard aging as morphing yet never losing beauty. :)

Jackara3- Thanks for the SPAM.  Now go and buy your own product.  I am sorry for your personal "issue", but I am glad that you still have a chance with your product. Now if only you could find someone with which to take advantage of your chemicaly induced H-ON, then you wouldnt have to go at it solo.

Ah Paper Moon how fortunate it is that the gods have smiled down on some of we mere mortals. Surely there must be more than one goddess Aphrodite, for I believe I have also found mine. ;-)

Being a man, it is rough being married to an immortal. So occasionally to get noticed I have to do something to get noticed, thus the hub.
