Tribes Of Another Country

Lost In The Tribe is the correct translation as I´ve found out from this weeks episode supposedly nearing the end of the series itself the more the weeks go on the more interesting it gets.

Lost In The Tribe takes you right into the heart of now other families live in different parts of the World. Obviously it does´nt tell you all and everything about how the Tribe lives but it gives you an idea of how our ideals and beliefs could be so very distant from theirs but yet so very near.

In The Tribe, Living With A Tribe not exactly sure what the correct translation is here because I´ve been watching this on Spanish Television. Spanish Families have to go and live with a certain Tribe be it in Africa, Indonesia, or elsewhere.

Three Families are living for 21 days or weeks not sure about that either looks like anything goes at the moment.

Anyhow Spanish families living with  these Tribes and have to try and live in exactly the same way as the Tribe itself does. It seems any outside help is there but off Cameras and out of sight. The Tribe does not apparently have to understand how the Spanish People live or have lived up to now they just have to try and live with the conditions and way of life of the Tribe or quit. However quitting does´nt seem to be their idea just yet.

One of the Families is living with a Tribe somewhere near Namibia called the Himbas the first week of this Spanish Family has been quite difficult to say the least for them there are no plates and forks, no outside commodities of any kind you have to do things the way the Tribe does or out. Is this easy? Would say not obviously the same as if this Tribe would have to live in Spain for 21 Days they would think it was a different kettle of fish altogether who know how they would react to seeing our Society as it really is? Their Social code of conduct is basically the same, complicated at times according to our own logic but very simple too.

Spanish Women especially the Mothers are having a really bad time you have to realise that they are the "Bosses" in their own House and suddenly they find themselves totally displaced for 21 Days. It is´nt as if its for a whole year God knows how these Women would be living with these Tribes for a whole Year. The Spanish Boys are reacting very different sometimes very uppity and I´m not doing that all the time specially the Spanish younger Boys that are used to having everything. The older Spanish Boys are taking it better and try to adapt and the same goes with the Spanish Girls in every Family the younger Girls Spanish act the same and the older Spanish Girls try to adapt too. Some quite amusing anecdotes of a very intimate nature come out in this program.

One of the Women in particular who is living with a Tribe in Indonesia she is the Mother and is almost ready to quit but she has´nt yet. She is the one who has stated "I would like to see these lot living in Madrid for three weeks" but this is´nt the case the Tribe will not have to go anywhere. This Family either sticks it out the best way they can or leave. So the Spanish Mother seeing as she is a pillar structure the mainstay is trying much harder now she seems to have settled just a little bit. Not sure of the names of the other Tribes as there are so many ads on this Television Channel every ten minutes or so and I´m not sitting there glued to the Set either.

In this Series there are not many young Children or older ones around of the Tribe itself been seen around the Village perhaps they have been sent to stay to other Families of the same Tribe.

it seems that only part of the Tribe is selected to live with the Familes from Spain. These tribes live mainly on Reserves so that really they are not left to fend for themselves altogether.

One of the mains meals I saw that the Himba Tribes eats is cooked Corn and flour with water part of their staple diet. They eat this every Day of the Year. Can you imagine what that would be like here in this Society?

So far the Series is very interesting up to a point to some it might seem a little repetetive. Ones I find the funniest are the Himba Women they come up with their own views of how they see other Women from that foreign Country they have taken to the Spanish Women surprisingly well.

However they have their own funny views in particular one of them was commenting to the other after being shown things brought from Spain like Photos and Magazines and Clothing amusing for me was this view and how they seem to be totally unimpressed by their Spanish Friends way of life. One Himba woman to the other  I think they must be poorer than us because they said they don´t have any goats or cattle or land or anything they must obviously be poorer than us they have to pay for everything well thats what she told me lol. This is one of the Himba Womens opinion of what they think after having been shown what you would think to them would be a luxurious life. What do you reckon to that?

Himba Women at least in front of the Cameras have not gone out of their way to make themselves up be different or be bossy or any other form of behaviour that is not their typical way of being. I find these Women and their views of seeing the other World as it is very amusing. Refreshingly different to what is being shown on Television or any other media.

Mayte, Marta and Laura Spanish Mother and Daughters have amazingly taken to these Women and are now adapting a bit more easily than before. Mayte and Marta said that they are going to miss these People when they go back Home what a whacky World we live in.

Trying Times Come To An End......

End of "Lost In The Tribe", this was quite sad as the ending was unpredictable. Well more or less you could guess how it worked out but you could not be sure altogether of how it would end.
The Family that lived with the Mentawai Tribe were eventually accepted as Tribal Members and they all had a celebration and the Family dressed in special clothes for that occasion.
When they had to leave shortly after the most surprising thing is that the People who you thought would not be upset cried and got very emotional.
The woman who lived there with her two Sons and boyfriend well now they are married is expecting a baby. Now that is a nice outcome.

The family who lived with the Tribe on the edge of the Kalahari Desert were also eventually accepted when the men of the Family gave in and put those things on that they had to put on to be accepted.
With a lot of grumbling the men gave in and in the end found themselves quite at home in their new outfits lol.
They were accepted and their departure from the Tribe was a really emotional one too.

Now last but not least the ones who lived with the Himba North of Namibia were accepted right away. No qualms here. The women had to add more things to their dress and it made it a bit hard going but they managed it.
Himba Women had taken to the Mother and the two girls very much and they were really unwilling to part with them. Might add also the Husband although he did not work as hard as what the Mother and two girls had to do. This Family have pledged to go back and see their new found friends in spite of the seemingly big gap between them.
So the three families more or less departed the same night and were taken to a Hotel and for the first time in twenty one days they were able to have a Bath. A huge dinner was awaiting them downstairs and they took ages to get ready revelling in the water and soapsuds.
When they all eventually got home to their respective houses they were visited by the presenter of the Program and they were each handed fifty thousand euros to each Family in a cheque. They were all surprised as it appears that they thought only one Family could win.
All the three Families stated that more than the money they enjoyed having gone through that experience and would go back again for free.
They all said that their lives have been changed for ever in many ways even though they are back on their own ground.

Lionesses Of The Himba Tribe

Social behaviour of the Women in these Tribes.

Himba Women seem to do all the work around the Village. Fetch water, make the meals, have plenty of children, look after them teach them everything.
Seems like they are the underdogs but are they from what I have seen the Himba Women are Lionesses in their own right. Their power lies in their silence at the right time and seeming to back their Husband all the way. HImba Women very strong and courageous. Lionesses are more powerful than the Lion itself.

Women of the Mentawai Tribe are another clever set of Women. Appear to be in the background all the time and not getting into the arguments with the men of the Tribe itself. Said they cannot be bothered to argue. The thing is here they listen like the Himba Women and do their own thing in the background. It seems that they do very well like this. These Women are involved in the main tasks as well not complaining they get their own way in their own time.
Last Tribe of the Women in the Kalahari Desert not clear about these Women whether they have their own kind of freedom or not. Suppose they must have but it was not made clear as to what kind of life they really lead. Pity that really interesting to know how they manage to go about things in every day life.
