Living with a Prosperity Consciousness Mindset
56All any of us has to do is pick up any newspaper in the country or watch the nightly news to see how scared people are about the economy. People are losing their homes, defaulting on loans and going bankrupt. Fear and lack of money have many people running scared.
I know how hard it is when you look at your bank account and see it dwindling (if you have one at all). It becomes hard to believe that abundance is all around. This belief causes us to hold onto tightly to whatever money we have.
That would be a mistake. Let's try a new way of looking at our finances and money. The Law of Attraction tells us that we get more of whatever we focus on.
When we are living in fear and scarcity, we fight over money, we hold onto money. We are afraid we are not getting our piece of the pie. As if there were only ONE PIE!
Bob Proctor always says that when we are dealing with the infinite, we can never take more than our share.
We can only attain in life what we believe we can get. Therefore it is important to change what is in the subconscious mind to reject the lack and limitation thinking and embrace a world of abundance.
When I think of how the subconscious mind works, I think of the old computer axiom, garbage in, garbage out.
One way to change our world view is through writing. Why not write out a goal card and carry it around. I always have one in my pocket, which I touch and look at frequently. It helps me to hold my vision.
When I trained as a Life Success Consultant with Bob Proctor, he shared his goal card with us and I have adopted it for my own personal use.
I am so happy and grateful that money flows to me in increasing quantities through multiple sources.
It's important to write the goal down. Writing causes thinking, thinking allows us to create an image on the screen of our mind and that controls our feelings. Feelings cause us to take an action and it is action that produces the results we get in our lives.
It is time to be proactive. We can't passively sit by and watch our financial futures go down the drain. It is time to embrace an attitude of abundance and live like we believe it!

I'm not sure I share your faith in the power of positive thinking, but I can say I see the worth in understanding the principles of GIGO. Well done!
Hi Sally,
For me,it's not just positive thinking, that is only the beginning. We need to change the messages held in our subconscious mind. Our feelings come from thoughts and we can change the way we feel just by changing the way we think.
In a nutshell,Thoughts create our feelings that move us into action and produce results.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.
Hi Robie

Thanks so much for adding to this hub. You are right! And I haven't paid attention to that.

I appreciate your comment.
Susan, though I would not have called it the law of attraction as the popular book did (wish I had, though...LOL ) I have long believed that to think it is to give it power -- so it's important to control our thoughts.
It's really common sense. Who, when depressed, can accomplish their goals? I do believe that normal depression can fuel new and better thoughts if we let it, but habitual depression is around the corner from any who find themselves frequently "down." I fight "down."
I will never forget the simplistic approach ( you will appreciate this, having worked in the field of psychology) a Psychologist shared with us during a seminar. He was asked to what did he attribute his success when helping a person achieve a better state of mind.
He thought and was silent for what seemed to be several minutes. Then, he said "I had a patient who was coming to me for a period of time, due to depression. One day, I became rather impatient regarding their "whining" about life. I asked them, "Fred, what would you do, if you were not depressed?' Fred replied, "Well, I used to enjoy golf."
I wrote a prescription for his depression, finally, and gave it to him. It read "Play golf 1.5 hours everyday for 2 weeks and call me after that time."
---------- Lesson? Pretend. Do what you would do, if you weren't depressed and chances are....you'll get better after a short period of time. It's not magic. Most often, the cures lie within our own power and thinking. If only we will.
Your hub brought all this back to me and I appreciate it...our minds are so powerful -- We can use our thoughts to set us on a healthy path, or destroy us, or just keep us inbetween....sad and pitiful.
We can lose hope and say "it's gloom and doom ahead!" Or we can say, "we'll make it, we can do this; we have choices." Never underestimate the power of one. Don't all answers begin with that ?
Marisue
You are so right. Our thoughts are powerful and we can think any thoughts we choose. I know for myself when things are going wrong, it is so easy to slide down, it's almost like I play in my negativity and doom and gloom until I remember that I can take an action to change my life. I have had periods in my life when I have not disciplined my mind and felt at effect of my emotions.
Wayne Dyer said "when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." If we are in a negative place, it doesn't mean we will be there forever, it is just a snapshot of the way we have been thinking until now.
I think that psychologist was right....it is a great question to ask....In addition to being a Life Coach, I am a therapist and I have often asked clients, "well if you did know...what would it be?" And people generally can answer. They just need help and support to go and do what they want or need to do.
You know the 12 Step Programs have it right when they say, Act As If. Fake it till you make it.
The Law of attraction has been around for so many years, just not called that. I have often summed up the law of attraction as God helps those who help themselves.
Yes..I agree, never underestimate the power of one. It is up to us as individuals to make a decision about what we want for ourselves and go out and do what needs to be done.
Thanks so much for your comments. They are great.
Susan- It's good to have positive thinking and at the same time be one must be realistic (I mean if I live like I have a lot of money and keep spending without thinking of the repercussions then wouldn't it be a problem later?)
Overall a good hub.
It is so good to see you Countrywomen.
Yes...but what I am talking about is changing what we think about. So many of us dwell in the negative and lack and limitation.
The law of attraction says that energy flows where attention goes so if you focus on lack and limitation, that is all you will see. You will miss the opportunity for abundance to come into your life.
I know for myself that when I get into a negative mindset, everything flows out of that. I feel bad, my thoughts are negative and things go wrong in my life. When I focus on the good I desire and really see myself with those things, my life goes much better.
It is not just positive thinking...you can think positively and nothing good comes of it. It is about believing down to your socks that life is abundant and full of good things waiting for you. When you can do that, you open yourself to allowing the good that you desire to flow to you.
So no, I am not saying to go out and spend, spend, spend....I am saying that "when you change your thoughts, you change your life". (Dr. Wayne Dyer)
Thanks for adding to the discussion.
Susan
Susan- They say whatever a human mind can conceive it can achieve. If we dwell about things on which we have no control then we lose control of even those things on which we have some control. My dad used to say we have to control the situation not let the situation control us. I totally agree with you that we need to live as if we do have all the good things we desire (fake it to make it) but the issue I was raising is some people who may start spending(credit cards) without actually having it. We all have to dream but to actually make those dreams into actions we have to work for it (Plan our work and work our plan). But most of the people may miss this second part about putting the effort in plans and executions (Failing to plan is planning to fail). Only and only if we actually see the results in our bank checking account we should go about a brand new wardrobe (what do you say?).
Yes...Napoleon Hill said that in Think and Grow Rich.
I do think you are right about missing the action portion of this...I think that was where The Secret missed the mark. I don't think there was enough emphasis on taking the action required.
It was after The Secret came out that John Assarf said that if all you do is sit and dream about your impending wealth they will come and take your house.
So...dream big, act on your dreams...wardrobe to follow!
Thanks Countrywomen!
Susan
Susan- I am glad you took my opinion so positively as you really are a positive person. Since you are so receptive to others opinion they would give it to you freely without necessarily toeing your line all the time. It's always a pleasure to talk to positive, open and broad minded people like you.
Here is another hub on positive attitude: http://hubpages.com/hub/Attitude-Is-Everything_Dig

Dear Diggersstory
Beautifully said! I believe we are here to make a contribution and to leave our earth a little better than we found it.
We all have different passions! We should be supporting and encouraging each other to do what we do best.

Kudos, Susan. This is right on the money( to coin a phraseLOL) and not only does writing cause thinking-- thinking causes writing and your thoughts are excellently conceived and written--thumbs up!
