Loans for students with bad credit are important because without them, most students would not be able to go to college. This makes finding such a loan very important. Unfortunately, this is not as easy as it seems, since most lenders will not give out money to students with poor credit. But, rest assured it still is possible to get the funding you need without having a good credit history.

Now, you first bet when trying to fund loans for students with bad credit history is to consider the various federal student loan programs out there. These federal loans are great because the government will offer them to ALL students, regardless of credit history. The main measure used as the deciding factor in these loans is the student’s financial need.

Stafford Loans for Students with Bad Credit History

The Stafford Student loans are the primary federal student loan that most students with poor credit history seek out. These loans are given based on financial need and will often require the student’s parents to contribute towards their education. Parents are required to submit their financial information along with the student’s Stafford loan application. The federal government will grant them student loans based of their income level. The amount given to students will vary, depending on their unique situations. However, in general, the more money the parents make, the less the amount will be. After graduating, you must begin repaying the student loan.

Look online for more information about Stafford student loans – there are various websites and lenders online that offer detailed information about the terms of the Stafford loan.

Perkins Loans for Students with Bad Credit History

The Perkins loan is another federal loan granted to students in financial need. This loan is based off financial need. The total amount given for the duration of a student’s schooling is a maximum of 20k. The maximum per year granted will be 4k. Perkin loans are not enough, by themselves, to cover a student’s college tuition and expenses. You will need to combine the Perkins loan with other federal loans like the Stafford loan, or with private student loan funding. When looking for loans for students with bad credit, the Perkins loan really stands out because financial history does not matter for application.

There may be other student loans for people with no credit out there that are offered. However, the main federal loans are the Perkins and the Stafford loans. Most students have a combination of these two loans plus parental contributions and/or private student loan funding.

The best place to look for such lenders is online, where there are many such companies with website presences. You can easily send them an email (through their websites) to inquire about a bad credit student loan quote.
