-I have put together some logical generalizations which I feel can't be proven wrong with logic, only faith. I welcome correction.
-Faith contradicts Logic.
If I said something which was logically correct, it couldn't be proven wrong with logic, it could only be proven wrong with faith. If it was logically incorrect, then it could be proven wrong with logic without the use of faith. When finding logic, faith is not needed. Faith is a barrier to finding logic.
-Faith is Absolute Belief.
I feel faith is absolute belief because it believes without need for logic. If logic was used, the belief wouldn't need faith. Can someone have faith in belief without the belief being absolute? I think so as long as the person believes faith isn't absolute.
-Absolute belief is a contradiction to having an individual mind.
What happens when belief is absolute? When the belief is absolute, the belief is content with what it knows and could refuse new knowledge. When a person has the ability to learn new things everyday, why should a belief need or want to be content? Dependency? I think so.
-Dependent belief equals a dependent mind.
If someone is dependent on an absolute belief, they obviously have a dependent mind. Which is stronger, a dependent mind or an individual mind? I think the logical answer is the individual mind which is non dependent on an absolute belief. When a person allows themselves to become dependent on others for a taught belief, they forfeit the ability to develop individual belief. Everyone is born individual, however most are dependent on a group belief.
-Grouped belief equals security.
We are trained and it is logically correct that power is in numbers. The more that share the same belief is the more power the group has. More power = more control. It's very easy to speak up when you have others that share your belief than when you have an individual belief. It takes a much stronger person to write or speak individual belief that it does for a grouped belief. Why? The group wishes to ridicule the individual belief in "protection" of the grouped belief.
-Individuals are the founders, Grouped believers are the followers.
It takes an individual mind to form a grouped belief for the followers. The followers are trained or incapable of forming individual belief, so they rely on a taught belief. The individual controls the belief of the followers to maintain order. If all of the followers realized their individual belief, there would be no control of the grouped belief. Individual belief contradicts the group belief.
-Most governments use the same belief system as the bible.
Which does a government want, followers or individuals? What does the bible want, individuals or followers? With followers, there is control and agreement. With individuals, there is doubt and disagreement. It is much easier to run a government with believing followers than it is with unbelieving individuals. What is any governments agenda? Control. What is the bibles agenda? Control. What is the easiest way to control any group of people? Make them believe using faith. Faith overpowers logic when speaking of a faithful believer. If a believer has absolute faith, they will never question logic. What does belief without logic require? Faith. Any governing body or religion strives for faith. Faith is unbreakable to the follower until they realize individual logic.
Does a team win by functioning as individuals or as a group? Any winning coach knows that the individuals must be cut or coached into a leader to have a winning team. Does the coach simply tell the team to go win or does the coach give the team faith to believe they will win? The coach knows that the team is incapable to win unless they believe they can win. What does the coach do? He makes them work as a team to develop a team belief.
Does the bible strive for a group belief or to teach people to form individual belief? The bible does not want individuals. Individuals challenge the bibles teachings. It teaches believers to become followers of a team belief to control the team. It gives the team of believers faith that they will win by getting a favored afterlife for their belief.
-Faith is stronger than logic
If you give a dying person two options, one option being to have faith they will go to a peaceful afterlife, the other option is telling them that logically it could be the end of their existence or that you don't know what happens when they die.
Which option will they choose to believe? Faith of an afterlife or the logic of death or not knowing? Most would pick faith. Why? It's much easier to pick a faith to believe than a logical answer to believe. If the person has faith they will to a favored afterlife and you logically tell them they might not, the person will likely have an emotional reaction to protect faith of their belief.
-Faith Is The Secret Formula Of the Bible
If there is a secret formula of the bibles ability to capture the believer, it is faith. Faith is the "key" of unlocking how the bible works. The bible makes promises of favored afterlife for having faith and threats of hell for not having faith. The bible does not reward favoritism for having logic. Without a faithful mind to believe in the bible, it would have no credibility.
-Everyone is Ignorant
Yes, everyone is ignorant in at least one area of life knowledge whether it be individual or educational knowledge. No one knows everything. Someone can have a genius ability in learning one thing an be completely ignorant in learning another. Saying everyone is ignorant shouldn't be taken as an insult, it is a logical fact. The difference is in those who refuse ignorance and those who accept it. Those that refuse ignorance always strive to learn what they don't know realizing how little they do know. Those that are content with ignorance are happy with what they believe they already know possibly refusing new knowledge to protect previous teachings or faith.
-Emotions Contradict Logical Decisions
The best example I can use on this one is the situation of a cop. Say the cop is on the job when a call comes in. The cops family members have just been murdered. The cop is in an emotional rage. He wishes to take justice into his own hands killing the ones that murdered his family. The cops superior takes him off the job. Why? The cops emotions contradicted his ability to have a logical mind.
Cops are taught to control emotions in any situation so they can make a logical decision. In the cop example I used, say the family that was murdered now has no relation to the cop. Would the cop still try to kill the criminals or would the cop simply make an arrest? The logical decision would be to make an arrest. The cops logical thinking tells them that if they killed the criminals, their job and life would be destroyed along with the criminals.

Thank You for reading and commenting IntimatE.
I'm not sure I get you.
Are you talking about healthcare workers going to work for the wrong reasons such as money or to make friends taking their mind off of why they are there?
Hi Marine,
Another good hub on the concept of faith versus logic.
This could also be termed follower versus leader.
The original Star Wars Movie just popped into my head after I wrote the last sentence. The part of the movie that popped in was when Obi Wan used his mind power to divert the guards from capturing R2D2 and the other one (can't remember name)by saying "These are not the droids that you are looking for". The guards then went on past them.
This works just like Faith when it is used as an answer to a question that they have no real answer.
BTW, my thought on logic is that it is a mechanism to find the truth, but it is not itself the truth. Truth can defy logic and logic can lead to a false answer.
Humans and human nature are not inherently logical because they have emotions and hormones. This kicks logic in the butt causing people to do illogical and stupid acts.
To prove the Bible wrong, you would have to prove that God doesn't exist. This also includes Faith in God and until the proof of God or proof that God doesn't exists appears, Faith cannot be dismissed.
That doesn't mean that Faith is truth, but only that there is no proof of God to determine the truth.
Basically, you cannot disprove something to an absolute certainty without proof. In this case, if God appears to the universe and demonstrates his powers or that another Creator appears that differs from the Biblical God and demonstrates the power to create the universe.
Faith is like betting on red or black in Roulette, it is a gamble which one will come up when the dice is rolled. Like Roulette there are two greens that make red or black bets lose. In this scenario, the green could be evolution without a creator or something else to explain why the universe and us exist.
My comment was spawned from the contents of your hub, so you own it now.
lock and load.....the Duck
Good to see you opinion duck! Long time, no see. I'm glad you looked at this one. I'm always appreciative of you making me work to further understand and think of my ideas.
I agree with you on logic! Logic is not absolute when everyone has a different idea of absolutes and logic equallying everyone will have a different truth. I think. lol
Great point on emotions, I was also going to add that emotions contradict logic as well. I may add that one later on.
I think a good question on a creator would be, would god rather have logic or faith? Logic meets at a logical agreement while faith separates in most cases. Another good question would be, is God a separatist? lol
Thank You
Hi Marine,
Thanks for the welcome.
Emotions compared to Faith would be an interesting topic.
It would also be a very complex and possibly subjective topic.
Also, your statement on logic is just the tip of the iceberg in my opinion. That is what makes it so complex and confusing. It starts with what is what is logic.
I choose the definition of logic as the science that investigates the principles powering correct or reliable inference.
This definition seems to me the closest to finding the truth. Where truth is a verified or indisputable fact.
Using these definitions, I would then compare it with faith.
Faith is merely a belief that is not based on proof.
Logic is a method to search for the truth
Truth is based on proof.
My opinion on Religious Faith is
Forget All Intelligent Thought Hallucinate F A I T H
just my opinion...
Your creator topic is in the same league but it would be thought provoking.
Creator versus God.
There are no stories about a creator other than God.
The bible is the source of the stories about God.
For religion God is the Creator but there is no truth to support it. There is also no alternate creator to put in God's place, so the weight of authority is in favor of a God.
This doesn't make it true but it cannot be disproved as we mention before.
Clearly, the beginning for religion's belief of God and his powers is the bible. Particularly, Genesis and the description of how God created the Earth and what lightly can be called the universe.
There is no detail in Genesis to make any valid conclusions on God as the creator. If we look at the book of Genesis with logic and try to compare what it says to what we know, it is very vague.
If we apply logic to it, the we take literally 6 days for the creation. Now, it can only be Earth days because it is termed in light and dark separating the days. Context also suggests that it is Earth days.
We also can infer from this that God has limitations. He had to rest on the seventh day. Also, he couldn't create it all in an instant or even a single day.
Also, the words suggest that God didn't have a plan or knew how it would be finished. Let there be light, and God thought the light was good. He also created Adam from the soil but didn't have Eve created at the same time. Genesis says that God tried many animals as the partner for Adam.
The point is that the Bible has only human knowledge in it, and there is no reason to believe that the biblical God wrote Genesis. Surely if God did write Genesis, it would have more details than it has now.
I don't want to beat the horse to death, so my final comment is on language and writings.
If God or Adam wrote Genesis, then it must be inferred that a language existed between them. That language was oral and written, so why wouldn't that be the same language spoken and written in the world today. Can humans improve on the language created by their God?
My point also is that it is bad to have more than one language because it can lead to misunderstanding and miscommunication of ideas. Even within our own language of English things are not always clear between parties.
Faith in
God will not answer my questions or comments but it will divert the question by saying that I don't understand God. When in fact, they themselves don't understand God, they just parrot from the Bible.
my opinion.....
Didn't mean to write that much but Thanks for the forum to do it.
You are welcome Opinion Duck!
I think of logic as a chain to find truth. When emotions and faith links are thrown into the chain, the chain is disrupted.
I kinda compared the biblical creator to a logical creator in my hub " God Logic ".
I think the bible is false to anyone who uses logical thought rather than faith based thought. The bible has many contradictions, contradictions also contradict logic. How could a belief be logical that believes contradictions? I don't think it could.
Thank You
Hi Marine
I agree with your chain to find the truth.
Thank You opinion duck. I don't know if I believe it as absolute, but it does seem logical to me. Thank You.

I understand what this hub is about, but I also wanted to bring up the point that "Group Thinking" in a work place such as a hospital setting is a very dangerous concept. "Group Thinking" causes health care workers to become lackadaisical in aseptic technique and good quality health care. It in turn can become an infectious disease, that when allowed to be continue, will cost people their lives and is just as fatal as if that hospital was the sole source for the plaque of the 21st century. Thanks Marinealways24, great subject matter and nicely written hub.
