The Logitech G9 Laser Mouse does what it says on the box: it’s customizable, sophisticated and can be adjusted to suit your gaming technique. It’s a seriously great piece of plug and play hardware and you won’t go far wrong using it as an add-on to your computer gaming experience.

So what’s included? For a start off there’s the MicroGear™ Precision Scroll Wheel, a nifty piece of kit that enables you to simply click or hyperscroll – great for when you need speed clicking in-game. It comes with inter-changeable weight cartridges, which allow you to modify the weight and overall feel of the G9 – no sloppy mouse movements from a flyweight laser mouse – annoying when you need a bit of stability when gaming.

Then there’s the natty wide or slim grip – again a bonus for those of us who have shovels for hands … or not. It also possesses an overall feel of snugness, which is down to the design plus the weight/width adjustments. If that isn’t enough the flexibility regarding the dpi should do just nicely. The range is from 200 through to 3200dpi. Very nice.

Basically the mouse is set up to be user friendly, whether or not you’re gaming. It’s that versatility that makes it an attractive piece of hardware. You can be roaming the realms of WoW or storming through Call of Duty and it does the job. Equally, you can be surfing or just plain old working – and the G9 laser mouse stands up more than adequately.

I like the fact that you can create different profiles with the mouse (based upon what you’re using it for) and the G9 easily switches between them. And being plug and play, an idiot could install it. Frank, but true. Actually guys, that’s a plus!

Of course there are cons. It’s aimed at right handers – the whole thing can be more fiddly if you’re left handed. Not what you’re looking for when you've parted with a few bucks. Also, I don’t know that all the shout outs for the software need to be quite so loud. Once you’ve set your G9 mouse to how you want it to behave – you’ll forget about all its little features. I guess that's a plus though, right?! It’s also not a big laser mouse, which some folks prefer. They like to feel as though they have something substantial in their grip. The G9 laser is sophisticated, therefore the size is in keeping with the term.

In all, it’s a great laser mouse. Probably even more attractive now that it’s dropped down a fair bit in price. Started off at around a hundred bucks and now you can pick them up for around half that. Certainly worth considering/buying if you’re after more than just a laser mouse for surfing/working. In all, a respectable piece of kit.
