London 2012 Olympics, I want to do my bit
65I have to be there....
There are three years to the London 2012 Olympics and to be totally honest I just cannot wait. These games and all that happens around them will be the most amazing experience ever. And I have to be there and I have to play my part.
Okay so I have to say it is a fair bet that I won't be able to compete, I think I would run 100m in about 9 minutes !!!, and I am not even sure I could get over the high jump with a pole vault in my hand, so going to the games as a competitor is unlikely. As for being there as a fan, well getting tickets for the openning could be an olympic event in its own right, somehow I think it will be the most competitive thing seen in London for many years. I can just imagine the black-market for tickets, and I bet they sell for well over £1000 each.
So if I am to be there, and I really must, then I think the only way is to be there as a volunteer, a shepard of folk in and around the stadium. A guide and help to those who did somehow get to buy a ticket, or win it through thier Mastercard. But hold up there is one possible flaw with this cunning plan, what if I am stationed outside, in some remote distant part of the village, miles from anywhere and anything. Now this has become a "fagan" moment, and now I must review the situation, and I must think it out again.
This is now becomming really hard, I must be there, it will be one of the sporting highlights of my life, by the time of the games i will be nearly 50 years old, I can't see another games in London in my lifetime, this will be a one off opportunity, everything I love comming together for a summer of sporting wonder. London, the Olympics, Sport, People of the world, all in one place at one time, and I really must be there and I must be part of it. But how can I insure that I will be there, I will be in that stadium on openning night?
And now it has become clear, I must be there as i really want to see the openning, the dance, the singing, the wonder, the fireworks, so now I have a plan!!! I will be in the show, I must find a way to actually be in the show that opens the London 2012 Olympics. Okay so I can't dance and I sure can't sing, and I am quite old and past it, but somehow i have to find a way to be in that show, to actually be part of the whole show, now that is a plan.
