The London museums are as diverse and as classy as the place claims itself to be. There are over seven major museums in London and several other smaller yet equally informational specialized museums.

The British Museum is one museum that you might want to visit when in London as it gives its visitors a wide view of the world’s cultural history. The museum houses one of the most extensive collections of artifacts from Africa, Asia, the Pacific, America and Europe, of course. Here you can also find a favorite hangout of Karl Marx called the Reading Room, and an interesting display of Egyptian mummies.

Another fascinating museum in London is the Natural History Museum where all your questions about natural history can be answered. The museum features a 26 meter long diplodocus which will surely amaze its visitors.

The Museum of London is one museum that shows how London has developed throughout the years. It documents the story of London way back the prehistoric times up to the present time, highlighting the Roman, Medieval and Tudor eras. As of the present, however, the museum is undergoing renovation that some areas may be inaccessible to the viewing public.

A different type of museum that can interest art lovers is the Design Museum, which showcases the best of contemporary design. Of course, the exhibits here are more of the temporary nature because it caters to the different contemporary artists and their marvelous works.

Sherlock Holmes’ fans will surely enjoy a day in the Sherlock Holmes museum where the detective’s memorabilia are displayed.

These are just some examples of London museums that are worthy of your time to visit since these places give a substantial informational value to London’s history.
