I was the guy that never believed in long distance. I felt if that person isn't there to be next to then how can you be cared for. I never really used to chase girls, but I definitely loved to be with girls.

Whenever a long distance was nearing it's head I called it quits. I said no sir not for me. It just didn't make sense, does it make sense to you?

Well it wasn't till late 2003, just relocated to a different state and had just left my last girl. I wasn't really looking for a relationship but was starting to talk to a old crush I had in high school. This girl had know idea the feelings I had for her. I would play dumb in Spanish one class just so she could help me with my work. I later failed Spanish two from that move. Well she was the one girl I would love to have been with. I just knew I wouldn't have been able to have given her anything during high school cause i had no career or security to provide.

In 2003 we some how started chatting over the phone and internet. She still lived in Texas while I now lived in Mississippi. I didn't think about how it would work just continued to talk to her. The more she spoke the more I wanted to be with her again. My crush was returning again, and kept growing. Early in 2004 we became a somewhat couple over the phone. A step I didn't think was ordinary by far.

Then while I was joking around said, "You should come over here and hang out with me." Didn't think she would actually do it that soon. Well low and behold she did and the moment she arrived off the airplane we made-out. Yes sir I'm talking love at first sight. Why she didn't see me like that in high school, well i'm leaving that one alone. All I know is it was working now.

So it being official after we hooked up we decided to try to see each other as much as we could. I'm thinking man this is going to be tough, and the odds of it working, I had to be honest weren't that good.

Well it seemed luck was on our side; for some reason every two months we managed to see each other. I made every attempt to drive 9 hours whenever I could, and I mean whatever I could. I drove a friends mustang one weekend just to see her for one day. I also drove at 11:30 at night just to see her for a few hours. I was crazy over her.

After 9 months I moved to Virginia, where we continued to do 2 months. It was tougher, and at one point didn't know if she was going to hold on. She was pushing me far away. I thought it was another guy, or just me. Well I was wrong and I'm glad I flew down before I couldn't hold on any further. We realized it was her fear of losing school.

We both had big fears, what kept of strong is realizing the story isn't made unless you sacrifice and take risks. So that's exactly what we did.

So foward to August 2005 I decided to do the unthinkable; that's right guys I asked the big question. It was the perfect setting too, I was so lucky.

It was a full moon, on a pier while we were walking in the night, with the waves in the background. We walked to the far end of the pier and I got down on one knee. I was trying to speak but the crazy girl was not shutting up. So to buy time I pretended to tie my shoe; still she spoke. I was going nuts. Then I switched feets and finally got a break. I asked her, and like her she said, "...are you serious? Ask me again?"; so, I did. She said yes, and now she's my beautiful love.

We've been going strong now for 3 years. So, if you ask me long distance relationships are feasable; but it's not going to be easy. I think no matter the situation, both of you will have to try, and honestly I feel if the stars are matched, no matter what it's going to work. I say that because if your with your true love you know if your star crossed, there will be a number that incompasses your relationship. For my wife and I our number is 17.

Our Jersey numbers were 17. Our wedding date got moved somehow to the 17th; her aunts wedding was the 17th, and so on. Yup, is your meant to be you'll know it.

Good Luck with finding that one person, and my heart goes out to all those who continue to believe and try. Never give up and never lose hope. There are beautiful people out there looking for the same thing.
