Christmas boat "promenades" are a Southern California custom , with one held every weekend evening from December 1 until Christmas.

The "Naples Island Christmas Parade" has been a fixture since 1946, and traverses through the canals of Naples and surroundein Alamitos Bay going past Belmont Shore. The "Parade of A Thousand Lights" is in the Shoreline Village region.

In addition there is a Christmas boat exhibit in the nearby Port of Los Angeles and another in the Huntington Harbour residential area of Huntington Beach.

The Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Parade & Festival expodes on the local scene in June. It is the second largest rocking event in Long Beach, and pulls in over 125,000 lesbians and gays over the two day festivity.

The Long Beach Sea Festival takes place during the hot summer months. It showcases events around the ocean and the beautiful beach. These events have beach volleyball, cinema on the beach, and a tiki festival.
