Long Beach Island is a barrier island off the coast of New Jersey. Long Beach Island is commonly referred to as LBI.

The island runs 18 miles in length, and at it's narrowest is about 3 blocks wide. In some sections of the island, it's as wide as 6-8 blocks wide.

In New Jersey, Long Beach Island is a popular vacation destination. It's full of residential homes, mom and pop hotels, and lots of small shops and restaurants, keeping franchises out! One of the charms of LBI is that it's not full of places like Pizza Hut or McDonalds, and you'll find small business is alive and well here.

LBI offers shopping, dining, and fun for the family with amusements, miniature golfing, water slides and more. Fantasy Island is popular with the kids, while water sports are often popular for summer activities.

Surfing, surf fishing, swimming and sunbathing are all popular pastimes at the Jersey shore.

Long Beach Island is an ideal setting for your family vacation. One of the things I love about the island is that is before and after the big summer season, you can still enjoy great weather and activities. May and September are two of my favorite months, because you get the same great time at the shore with less crowds!
