655 Steps for Defining Your Face
An oval shaped face is the most desired in terms of looking balanced. No one has a shape that is naturally flawless in structure. Getting an oval likeness however, is considered by most to be the perfect facial shape because of its beautiful symmetry which is most pleasing to the eye.
A large number of women think their face is too full and want to try and make it appear slimmer. Others desire their facial shape to be, or at least appear to be, longer, smaller, higher or a plethora of other qualities and standards.
Now here's the good news: You can give any illusion (to some degree) to the shape of your face just by following this easy routine.
Define
Define using three separate shades of color on the eye, each with varying depth. ( light, medium, and dark) Applying color onto the face and the lips adds definition to enhance your strong features or alters imperfections. Even though there are hundreds of shades to work with, start with a base highlight shade for your eyes, a medium shade to contour and a deep shade to define the eye shape. Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone as closely as possible.
Contour
This should be a shade darker than your skin tone. It can be in the form of a Bronzer, Foundation, skin-toned blushes or finishing powders. The purpose of contouring is to "recede or "reduce" areas you want to minimize. Some examples: Cheeks that seem too full; the temples of a wide forehead; eyelids that droop or are hooded; or a double chin. Think natural flesh tones, just a level deeper than your base.
Highlight
These are lighter colors that bring out or bring into focus the areas on which they are applied. Any shade lighter than your base color can be a highlighter. Pearlizer, Highlighter, Foundation or ShadowSense are all perfect tools to use. This technique can also give an appearance of smoother, softer skin!
Blush
The purpose is to give a natural, lively look to your face. When you exercise and the blood is circulating a little harder than when resting, your skin radiates a health, vibrant glow. Recreate that same vibrancy with a touch of soft pink, peachy pink or even a warm-toned soft rose. For tanned or ebony skin, try using a deep bronzey pink to brighten the face.
Finish
Multi-color blends finish your look and enhance the shape of your lips. Similar to the concept of highlighting your face, you can bring out your lip shape by layering two colors of LipSense and topping it off with a gloss to brighten the lips and complete the look. No matter the color preference, the goal is to coordinate and blend each separate area of your face to enhance your strengths and ultimately your confidence.
