Looking for the best -put a noun here- on earth ?

The number of persons hanging around asking for the "Best" seem to grow daily, and many are trying to answer it. There are many requests for hubs on the best this, the most efficient that, and so on...

The answer is very simple, and despite it is not really polite to answer a question by a question, this is the only way out: "Define Best, please".

... but many pretend he did say "Everything is relative".

Are you looking for the best bananas in the world ? Ok, I have some here that are really fresh and young, they will be perfect for your Banana Split. What ? You want to do milkshakes ? So you probably prefer some more maturated ones...

Want the best car in the world ? Ok, here is a Formula 1. Ah, you wanted to use it with your family ?

The tricky part is to define what "Best" means. Talking about car, it can be:

• Faster
• Quieter
• Lower fuel consumption
• Roomier
• Cheaper

And this is putting aside all look and feel questions. The criterions I listed above are all subjective, so finding the best car on this base is feasible.

But when it comes to art, the deal is much different. What is the best movie, painting, book, sculpture ever ? Defining beauty or quality in these domains is simply impossible.

Even if you could define your own criterions, they will be so personal that they will match you only...

So you should no longer look for the best "thing" ever, but rather to ask for good "things", and don't forget to ask... why !

You will be surprised of how different the answer will be. If you ask someone for the best, one must select one item only, but when asking for good, you will usually receive a list... in which you will chose the best for YOU !
