Lost & Found
49New York, a week later
Why after all this time should he even be thinking of her? It was the woman on the street that made him think of Adrianne. The woman moved as he remembered Adrianne Bloom had so many years ago! That confident, sultry walk he remembered as she would amble toward him, or as he watched her walk onto the dance floor. No, it could not have been her eating lunch this afternoon in the very same deli he had chosen not fifteen minutes ago. That couldn’t be possible, could it? He hadn’t seen her since… what, ten, eleven years? The woman in the deli had shoulder length, straight red hair, not the wild strawberry mane his mind brought forth when he thought of Adrianne. She had so often tried to restrain those wild curls in various barrettes with little success. Something about this woman had assured him it could be none other. Where had she been all this time?
What had happened years ago for her to up and disappeared without a word? He had surmised her disappearance had something to do with Will. Her ex-boyfriend, who seemed to pop in and out of her life, but never out of her heart. At least while he had dated her there had always seemed time for Will, hope for Will. Why she would have chosen Will and the ilk he ran with a question beyond Scott’s comprehension. So many times she had assured him she was over Will, “honest, Scott he calls me to talk. Will knows it’s over for us.”
