Lose 40 Pounds

It's amazing to me how people that are diagnosed with serious medical conditions are so unwilling to make the life style changes to improve their health. Lung cancer patients continue to smoke, and diabetic patients continue to eat poorly and won't exercise. If you've been diagnosed with diabetes, and at the advice of your doctor have made the decision to improve your condition, then congratulations. Your one of the brave ones. It's not easy making big lifestyle changes, but it's an important part of living. Change is good, and some change is really good. For a diabetic patient, making diet changes can be one of the best things they can do.

While many type 2 diabetics wish they had made changes earlier to prevent such a diagnosis, sometimes you just have to deal with the way things are. A change to a good physical regiment and diet changes would likely have prevented your current situation. But it is what it is, and your decision to do something about it, is one to be applauded.

At times like this, it would be good to have the experience and knowledge of a dietitian and nutritionist and personal physical trainer all rolled into one. Knowing you have to make a change is the first step, but knowing what changes to make, and how to implement them in your daily life, can be overwhelming. It's time to increase your knowledge of exactly what your eating, and what it's doing to your body. How exactly do the foods you eat affect your blood sugar levels, and in what direction? You need the advice of a few experts, laid out in simple easy to follow instructions.

Did you know, that your blood sugar levels drop when you lose body weight. Even just 10 percent of body weight loss will make a difference. The diabetic diet, is really not all that different from the majority of weight loss programs out there. Heaven knows, there is plenty of weight loss programs out there, some you pay for, and some that are free. A lot are junk, but a few of them are very good.

I don't think there's anybody in the Western hemisphere, over the age of 15, that hasn't though about losing weight at least once in their lives. And, I think you'd have a hard time finding a doctor that would attempt to convince you otherwise. Losing weight fast is sometimes important, but usually not the right frame of mind to have when trying to get healthier. Think long term, but start acting today. That way, if your are type 2 diabetic, you can start on the road to recovery as soon as possible.

Any good diet plan should consist of a very focused balance. Run away from any diet advice that focuses too heavily on only one type of food group like carbohydrates. Your body needs all types of foods, and get's essential nutrients, minerals, and chemicals for fats, fibers, proteins and carbohydrates. Your body needs all different kinds of foods.
One of the bonuses I noticed when you shift to a healthier diet, is that you get to eat a ton more calories. Really you do. You have to eat a lot more healthy food to equal the same number of calories you would ingest from one bag of potato chips for example. The trick, is finding the healthy foods that you enjoy. There's all kinds of healthy foods out there, but your not going to like them all. Cottage cheese for example. I love cottage cheese, it's high in proteins and pretty low in calories. But I must admit, it looks disgusting. Some people can't stand the taste of it, and my kids won't go anywhere near it based simply on it's looks. But that's OK. You just need to find the foods that work for you. I also use spices whenever I can. Cayenne pepper, garlic, chili powder, and chipolte are some of my favorites. For those who find some healthy foods boring, spices are a huge help. They're caloric numbers are minimal, and make bland foods taste great.

Commit to a healthy diet play, and you will lose weight. 10, 20 ,30, 40 pounds or more. It's up to you. Plus your cholesterol levels and blood sugar levels will improve.

Medications from your doctor can also help, often have side effects and can be extremely expensive. Don't just ignore them, but by making smart diet changes you may decrease your dependency on them.
