I have always been very slim but I had this ugly belly fat that i just could not lose. It did not seem to matter how many exercises I did or what foods I ate. I always only consumed healthy foods so why the build up of fat around my belly? Why not my thighs or my arms? It's not as though I was in a sitting down job either, I spent over 9 hours a day on my feet, 5 days a week,

I longed for the perfect flat belly and continued for over a year and half to exercise everyday for half an hour, doing specific abs exercises. My diet changed too. I cut out the chocolates and snacks that would see me thru the day to having more fruit and salad. Did I manage to lose my belly fat? No.

I Didn't Get A Flat Belly Simply By Doing Abs Exercises.

I was completely off track and did not realise that until I researched where I was going wrong. I learnt that the most common mistake that I was making along with thousands of other people was that I was concentrating and spending my entire time working out on just one section of my body. My belly. My conception was that to obtain my perfect flat belly, I should only have to do specific abs exercises. I was very wrong. The more i researched, the more I began to understand why I was failing, I needed to focus more time in stimulating a fat-loss/burn hormonal activity in my body and at the same time increase my metabolic rate.

The right thing for me to do at this specific time was to focus majority of my time working out on my major muscle groups such as the chest, back, and legs. In this way, I knew i was stimulating my metabolism as well as the fat-burning hormones, which are essential in effectively developing a flat belly.

Top Exercises I Did To Achieve My Flat Belly

I had to define my midsection by losing or reducing body fats. Therefore, the most ideal exercises that would work well with my goal were those that do hanging abs trainings, good quality floor exercises, which all focus on full body trainings with calisthenics. Some of the top exercises I did were

Step-ups on my stairs
Skipping

Squats
Lunges

Press ups
Lying leg thrusts

Full body arm twists working my shoulders down to my waist
Sprints and jogging

My Diet

I changed my diet to have foods that were as natural and as unprocessed and whole as possible. Processed and over-processed foods are unhealthy; therefore can totally ruin hormone balance in your body as well as on the stimulation of its metabolism. For example, refined grains, refined sugar, refined, hydrogenated veggie oils, highly-processed foods are the worst kinds you could ever have in your diet. They contain worst ingredients that form unwanted fats and toxins. Instead of these foods, I opted for the following:

Whole grains
Natural sugar sources like whole fruits
Natural fat sources like avocados, eggs, nuts etc

I do not really eat much meat but I do like fish which is naturally good for you anyway.

There are just so many natural and inorganic foods that I can choose to eat and enjoy, so there is no reason for me to say that it is so hard to keep a whole-healthy and nutritional diet when it can be easily acquired from just about anywhere in the world. These types of foods gives you all macronutrients which are good because they also provide your body an assortment of vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and so forth.

Some Advice for Your Diet

I also learnt that the most important thing to avoid when it comes to maintaining my diet was to stay away from nutritional programs that contain high-protein, low-carbohydrate, low-fat, and any combinations. These programs have you focusing on only one or few macronutrients against another, which is completely unnecessary because you need the whole of macronutrients that your body needs.

So having researched and putting into practice what i learnt, I can clearly see that I will reach my goal. I'm not completely there yet but I can see a difference and my belly does seem to be disappearing, I feel good too. I do not worry so much about my protuding ugly belly as I use to. Watch out for my secret!
