Lost DVD Easter Eggs Season 1

The secret to Lost's success is in its mysteries, in its ability to keep the secrets of the show close to its chest and reel out just enough hints and answers to keep audiences tuning in week after week for year after year. From the Dharma Initiative to the real nature of the Others and the questions about the island itself, "Lost" has unrolled a lot of mysteries for eager viewers to explore.

There's no reason Lost's DVD's should be any different. With extra hidden behind the scenes clips, interviews with cast and crew and footage of actual shooting scenes as well as discarded footage that has never been seen before, the "Lost" Season 1 DVD's are a treasure trove of mysteries waiting for you to unlock them. Season 1

Season 1 is when it all began. The survivors crashed on an island and soon they realized that they were not only survivors of a horrific plane crash, but that they were lost beyond hope of rescue. And then the real mystery began.

As you watch through Season 1 of Lost, here's a way to unravel still more mysteries on your DVD.

Mystery 1

First put Disc 2 of your Season 1 Lost pack into your DVD player.

Continue to Episodes. Move your cursor to the main menu and click the right arrow on the cockpit chair. When you see a dot pop up on the left, hit Enter and you will hear the radio transmission in French that Sayid picked up on the radio during the expedition into the island.

The transmission was the first real clue that something was deeply wrong and that there were others on the island beside them. It was the first trace of the presence of the Dharma Initiative scientists and the presence of the Others. It also served as the first bonding moment between Sayid (Naveen Andrews) and Shannon (Maggie Grace) that would eventually flower into a tragic romance.

Mystery 2

Insert Disc 7 containing the Special Features into your DVD player.Choose "Tales From The Island," push left, click on "Select" and you can see an alternate title sequence.

Mystery 3

Keep Disc 7 in your DVD player. Make sure that what you have is the Region 1 DVD Lost set, click on "Lost Revealed" and then push "Left" on "The Climb." Hit "Select" again and you'll see footage of Dominic Monaghan (Charlie) and Maggie Grace (Shannon) having a good time on set. Dominic Monaghan had been in "Lord of the Rings" which shot in New Zealand and had something to share.

Mystery 4

Keep your Disc 7 in your DVD player, we're still not done unlocking the mysteries of its Special Features, just yet. To find this easter egg, you'll have to go to "Tales from the Island" and placing your cursor on "Main Menu", you'll click right. Hit "Select" again and you'll see a scene of Locke's memorable orange grin, that was one of the first signs of Lost's somewhat oddball sense of humor and that "Lost" could channel humor to leaven all the mystery and danger.

Mystery 5

With your disc still in the drive, continue on to "Phase 2" and click on "Deleted Scenes." Use the right arrows to get to the last of the menu of the deleted scenes and there's only one arrow left. Highlight the arrow, shift to the right and wait for a dot to appear next to the arrow. Select the dot and you can see how Lost's rain gets done. (Hint: It's not the Dharma Initiative.)

Mystery 6

Still in Phase 2, go to Deleted Scenes select "Seeing Walt" and hit left twice.

Mystery 7

Still in Phase 2, select "Return," hit left twice and wait for the dot to appear. Hit "Select" and you can uncover a special interview with Evangeline Lilly. (You won't be uncovering her though.)

Mystery 8

Now put in Disc 6 and go to the "Main Menu. Wait while it loops seven times until the camera follows the plane containing Eko's brother dressed as a priest and the icons filled with smuggled heroin falling out of the tree and hitting the ground. It's quite a crash, isn't it?

Mystery 9

Go to Episodes, hover the cursor at "White Rabbit", move it up to "Main Menu" and hit right, changing the numbers from 17294531 to 17294535. Figure it out.

Mystery 10

Ah what is it? Explore for yourself and find out.
