The Tale of Louie the Light Bulb - Part One

Louie the Light bulb
This is the tale of Louie the Light bulb.
Louie the light bulb liked to hang out and chill. He wasn’t the brightest bulb on the block but he also wasn’t the dimmest.
A darling mischievous little girl aged four lived in the home that Louie occupied. Her name was Dorothy. Dorothy had an older brother Andy who was constantly annoying her, but then again, he was seven, and we all know what seven year old boys are like. Andy loved to get muddy and dirty and wipe his hands all over Dorothy’s clean clothes and yuck, even in her hair. He’d also chase her with spiders and other creepy, crawly things.
Along with Dorothy and Andy, mom and dad lived in the home. Dad worked at the office and mom stayed home with the children. All in all, they were a typical family in a typical home in a typical town. Louie liked the fact that they chose him to live here and hung him on the kitchen ceiling, over the table so he could have a good view of all the happenings in the household. From first thing in the morning when they turned the switch on until after the dishes were long gone and off went the switch, Louie watched, listened and was part of the scene. Of course when the lights went off for the night, Louie settled in for a long night’s sleep. Sometimes he was abruptly awoken in the wee hours of the morning, when dad couldn’t sleep and came down to read. He needed Louie then, so Louie would oblige. After all, he was a very important member of the household and he had a very important job; that of shedding light.
One Wednesday afternoon, or was it a Thursday; well I guess it really doesn’t matter, Louie was having a particularly boring day. That was not to be for long. There was a clang and a clash and Louie didn’t really know what to expect next when in bounced a rather furry and white little thing with four legs. He was scampering around and making little whiny noises. There was Dorothy right behind him. Louie supposed the creature, whatever it was, would be sent out the door never to be seen again; but what happened next was even more confusing to poor Louie. Dorothy swept up the fur ball and gave him a kiss.
She then excitedly said, “This is your new home Pompom. I hope you like it.”
Louie wiped his bulb to see if he had heard and seen right. He must have heard wrong, but then Dorothy said it again and she seemed even happier this time. She twirled around and around with Pompom in her arms, unaware that Louie’s life was about to change forever.
You see Pompom knew that Louie the Light bulb could see and hear everything. He even looked up and winked at Louie. This would be their secret but Louie didn’t know if the secret would be revealed to the family. That, as they say, is for another time.
