Love Poetry: Diamonds Of The Sea
66Hi, here's one of my favorite poetry of my own that I wrote on an online poetry club couple of years ago. It's actually about a family living near the sea whose father is a sailor and is about to leave their home to go offshore. But you can also interpret it in different ways, in a wider term where a father would do everything for his family even if he should face a big obstacle-which could be anything-in front of him.
Diamonds Of The Sea
When the sea breeze came
And the tide rose in
'It is time to go, honey
The sailboats are ready
Take care of the children for me'
So the stars were then sparkling
Together they formed a constellation
'That is to where I have to go
And I'll be back with jinglings of dough'
A battle against the sea waves had begun
As the darkness came across the horizon
'But I won't come home for bringing you a shame
Pray for me for I'll meet you again'
And so that the little dwelling of straw
stood still on the silent shore
Waiting for the return of their warriors
'Our blessings will always be with you, dear
Fight for our own luck with no fear
As for the children I'll tell them a story
For they'll know the true diamonds of the sea.'
(PS: I don't know why they put a flower instead of diamonds or sailingboat as the picture :D. But anyhow it still links to the title, right?).

Dinamars, its a lovely poem, thank you for sharing it for Valentines day. People who went to sea for work often sacrificed a great deal for their families because they loved them.
