Muah! Have a kiss :)

Hershey Kisses

Don't deny yourself chocolate if you're a chocolate lover! Chocolate isn't that bad for you, but It is bad for you if your gorge on a full size Hershey bar every 8 hours.  Recent studies have shown that chocolate in its purest form can lower blood pressure.  So keep a bag of Hershey kisses in the cupboard in case you need a chocolate fix. Three (3) Hershey kisses have only 75 calories. So snack on, chocolate lovers!

Fresh Apple and Peanut Butter

Peanut Butter tastes good on a lot of things, but it tastes GREAT on a juicy sliced apple. Wash an apple thouroughly and cut it into slices for dipping. Be sure only to take a spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar and then put the jar away. Too much peanut butter can ruin your calorie intake for the day. A medium sized apple and a spoonful of peanut butter is only about 200 calories. Mmmm-mmmmm.

Sliced Peppers and Low Fat Ranch Dressing

Crispy and fresh, a sliced pepper can be a delicious snack for the veggie lover.  Peppers have as little as 30 calories per medium sized fresh pepper.  Fat free ranch dressing contains around 50 calories per serving, so be sure to measure out your dressing with a spoon to be sure you don't spread too much dressing on your crunchy low calorie treat!

Nuts for nuts

Go NUTS!

A handful of nuts will do the trick.  That's right, just a handful.  And no, not a greedy handful, be reasonable.  Nuts provide sustained energy and their very high in protein.  Nuts provide you with vitamin E,an antioxidant that may help fight prostrate and lung cancers.  A handful of almonds or cashews count in at 160 calories.  Grab and go, baby!

Great article, Ashley! These foods are all on the list for my training diet for a long bike ride I'm doing end of June. My diet specifies dark chocolate for monounsaturated fats. Mmm, mm, good.
