A low carb diet plan is one of the best ways to achieve lasting weight loss but many people quickly lose their way because they choose the wrong food. If you avoid these mistakes you will find low carb diets are easy to follow, have plenty of variety and keep hunger away.

You Only Eat Meat and Eggs

When most people think of a low carb diet they imagine that all you can eat is meat and eggs. Facing bacon and eggs for breakfast morning after morning gets very monotonous and can quickly lead to giving up before you have barely begun.

The most enjoyable and sustainable low carb diets are those that are not limited to a few staples. Feel free to enjoy a variety of protein and fat sources. Foods that provide great levels of fat and protein are nuts, cheese, seafood, poultry, and protein powders.

You Give Up Chocolate and Dessert

A life without chocolate and dessert is not worth living. Following a low carb diet doesn't mean giving up the things that you love. There are plenty of low carb and no sugar chocolate products on the market and you can find delicious low carb dessert recipes.

A simple chocolate covered protein bar warmed in the microwave and served with low carb ice-cream will satisfy a sweet tooth.

You can make your own decadent low carb cheesecake without sugar or wheat and even your family won't know the difference!

You Eat ZERO Carbs

A low carb diet is not a NO carb diet. You should eat at least 30g carbohydrates a day and you can go as high as 30% of your diet. Don't think you have to give up vegetables, or a small serving of rice, oats or bread because as long as you keep an eye on the amount you eat, you will be able to fit some carbs in to your low carb diet.

You Eat a Low Fat Low Carb Diet

If you attempt to eat low fat and low carb you will make yourself sick very quickly. When you are eating low amounts of carbohydrate, dietary fat is necessary because it becomes your primary energy source.

Eat eggs with the yolks, dark meat chicken and turkey with the skin, and salmon rather than tuna. Add olive oil to your cooking and salads. Eat full fat cheese and yogurt.

If you aren't going to eat any fat, then switch to a higher carbohydrate plan. A low fat, low carb diet is unhealthy and unsatisfying.

A low carb diet plan will result in steady weight loss and you can increase your chance of success by avoiding these common mistakes.

To ensure your low carb weight loss diet is healthy, enjoyable and sustainable, include a variety of protein and fat food sources, indulge your sweet tooth, eat up to 30% carbs and don't shy away from fat.
