Low Cost Auto Insurance

Odds are you can get lower-priced low cost auto insurance

Have you been with the same insurance company for years now? Why? Chances are you can find a better rate. I just switched my low cost auto insurance this year, I tend to change every 1-2 years (First quote I got was $290 less than my previous low cost auto insurance company quote). Because the low cost auto insurance companies you are with take you for granted, they aren't going to tell you about how to save money with them. That's because they already have you as a customer, paying them $1,000's a year for something (chances are) you don't ever have a claim on.

So what can you do to save money?

To find the best low cost auto insurance company, you need to get quotes from new ones. However, that would take up a lot of time. Unless you have another company do the work for you. Click here for an example of a company that will obtain quotes for all the major insurance providers. This way, with one form, you get all the quotes you need to make a decision on which low cost auto insurance company to go with. Let's say none of the companies were lower (odds are very low on this), then you spent probably 15 minutes (tops, it'll probably take 10) to know you can be assured you have the best low cost auto insurance company.

Other ways to cut costs on your insurance

Most people I talk with have low deductibles on their low cost auto insurance. Many say they have $250-$500 deductibles. Are you calling your low cost auto insurance company each time you get a scratch or small dent on your vehicle? If not, then you should probably consider the $1,000 deductible on your low cost auto insurance. I did it, I save about $400 a year by going from a $500 deductible to a $1,000 deductible. I switched to $1,000 deductible on my low cost auto insurance 3 years ago and have not had a claim. That means I saved $1,200 so far by going to a higher deductible. Even if I did get in an accident tomorrow, I would pay an extra $500 in deductible but would still have a net gain of $700 (plus compound interest considerations).

Do you average an accident once every year or more? If not, then you may want to consider a $1,000 deductible. Just make sure a $1,000 payout won't put you in financial distress.

Next way to get a lower rate on your low cost auto insurance

By default (generally), all insurance providers will put medical insurance premiums on your premiums. But what if you already have medical insurance? You are basically paying for double medical insurance then. If you have decent medical insurance to begin with, why pay for double medical insurance?

I found this out probably only a year ago, I asked how much I would save by taking medical off my low cost auto insurance, to my shock they said $120 per six months. That's $240 a year I saved! My medical insurance is fine, it will cover me under any circumstance I can come up with (Including a car accident).

Bottom line

Back before I shopped for low cost auto insurance, I paid about $1,150 every six months ($2,300 a year) for coverage. Now, I just paid my six month insurance premium eight days ago and I found $698.50 (about $1,400 a year). So I am saving $900 a year now, just by figuring out the best ways to get my low cost auto insurance.
