What about Carbs?

Of course it's important to watch your carbohydrate intake. I not only keep a close eye on my calorie intake, I also consume low carb foods. You'll achieve better weight loss if you cut back on both. There are many weight loss diets and low calorie foods available to help you achieve your goals without going hungry!

5-6 Small Meals a Day

Eating five to six small meals a day of low carb and low calorie foods is a key to losing weight. Eating every 2-3 hours keeps your metabolism working throughout the day. Also, you won't feel hungry. To calculate how many calories you should be consuming at each meal simply take how many calories you need to consume each day to maintain your weight, decide how many calories you want to reduce it by, and divide that number by five or six depending on how many small meals you want to eat daily.

For example, if you need to consume 1800 calories a day to maintain your weight and you want to lose weight, consume only 1500 calories a day. Now divide 1500 by 5 and eat five small 300 calorie meals each day.

Thank you for your comment on low calorie foods. Of course some people can eat 3000 calories a day. I recommend using the calorie counter that I link to in this hub to determine how many daily calories are appropriate. Different people and their body types respond differently to calorie intake. A 200 pound male who has a lifestyle that involves substantial physical activity probably needs more than 3000 calories a day to maintain body weight, while a 140lb woman trying to drop 5lbs shouldn't be eating 3000 calories a day to achieve weight loss goals.
