A decade ago, we know there were many famous Thai Temple monks who had contributed so much to the people of Thailand and one of them was Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai. In the year BE 2466, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai came into this world on Thursday, October 4th. Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai was borned in a wealthy family and at that time, his grandfather was an influential and well-known person in Nakon Raatchaseemah province. During that period of time, his grandfather was said to know Wichah (magical power) and feared by many people.

His grandfather brought Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai to study Thai and Rali under Ah Jahn Cheum, Ah Jahn Saai and PRa AH Jahn Lee in a temple when Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai was 7 years of age.

When Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai reached the age of 21, he was ordained at Wat Thanon HakYai in the year BE 2487 on May 5th. During that period, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai's preceptor was Pra Kru Wijahn Dtigit and his dhamma teacher was Pra Kru Atigahn Torng Suk. He was named as Pisuttoh (his monk's name).

In Wat Thanon HakYai where Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai had stayed for his studies of dhamma as well as learning under Luang Daeng Wat Nong Poh. With Luang Por Daeng, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai studied dhamma, sammahdti and Wichah (magic). Under the teaching of Luang Por Daeng, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai was very diligent. Noticing that Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai was so interested in his studies, Luang Por Daeng introduced Luang Por Kong who was the abbot of Wat HatYai. Luang Por Kong took Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai as his disciple.

During that period, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai was brought to Tudong (forest dwelling) since Luang Por Kong was a Pra Tudong (forest monk). Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai learned dhamma and sammahdti and Luang Por Kong also taught Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai Wichah (magic) on inserting Dtagru into a person's arm.

Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai went Tudong by himself after a series of practises from Luang Por Kong. Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai had trained himself as far as Laos and Cambodia. It was said that Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai had stayed in the deep forests of Laos and Cambodia for many years of practising. Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai found himself staying in any of the temple near town to Khow Pansah (rainy season for monks to stay indoors) or if he was in the forest, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai would continued staying in the forest for his Tudong.

Staying in Wat Bahn Rai, Nakon Raatchaseemah after more than 10 years of Tudong, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai returned to Thailand. Back from his Tudong to Wat Bahn Rai, the temple looked so rundown. It was seen only a old Salah (shelter), Bot (hall) and Guti (place where Buddha statue will be placed). Upon seeing this, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai made up his mind to re-build the temple.

Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai approached the abbot of the temple but found out that the temple did not have much fund left to be of any use to re=build the temple. Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai then found out that in order to rebuild the temple, it would required 3 to 4 billion bahts. With that in mind, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai and his lay disciples went to source for funds. Surprisingly, lots of people came forward and contributed. Almost 2 million bahts were collected from the fund and finally, Wat Bahn Rai was re-built.

In Nakon Raatchaseemah, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai had gained popularity among the people. When Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai wanted to build a temple or school, many people would volunteered to help. During that period, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai had built many schools, temples and hospitals in Nakon Raachaseemah for the people in Thailand.

Whether poor or rich devotees who went to Wat Bahn Rai, Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai will personally go and meet them and giving blessing. He had given much helped to many poor devotees as they required to make a living in the livelihood.

There were many temples and people who had created amulets and Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai would chant and bless most amulets in Thailand. Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai would personally inserted the Dtagru under the arm of the devotees as these Dtagru were proven to protect a person from accidents, Metta and also Kong Grapan (immunity from weapons).

Luang Por Koon Wat Bahn Rai was doing all the chanting and inserting Dtagru for nearly 20 years but stopped due to poor health.
