Luck is a Point of View
54Good Luck!
What is "luck" whether it is good or bad? Is good luck a feeling of being in favor with God (or 'the' gods)? Where does the good or bad luck come from? Is there such a thing as luck at all or do we ascribe it after events? LUCK tacitly assumes that there is some higher force/power (whatever) who is in charge of handing out the goodies. In a really random universe how can such a thing as "luck" be understood?
Maybe luck is only a perception. For example a tree falls on a car and crushes the roof. The "lucky" person sees it as fortunate that someone was not in the car at the time, while the "unlucky" person sees it as unfortunate that the car happened to be parked beneath the tree that just happened to fall in that direction at that moment. Both of these views are 'true' - so is this what it means when someone says that we "make our own luck"?
Those who habitually see the advantage of events that have happened may actually have a way of seeing more opportunity in everything and taking advantage of it. While the so-called "unlucky" person is busy lamenting losses from a storm, the so-called "lucky person" is busy turning felled trees into "firewood for sale." "Luck", (good or bad) may simply be a habitual way of seeing things. If this is the case, then we can all conjure up a little bit more good luck for ourselves by not just "seeing" things, but instead by seeing "into" them. What else might have happened? What opportunity is hiding? What is to be learned?
The lucky person seems to look at the same situation as other people, but they see "more". You really can learn to be lucky simply by not being so dead set on a single outcome and by keeping in mind that whether any given thing was a piece of good luck or a piece of bad luck is not known right away. If you miss a plane because you got stuck in traffic it is bad luck. If the plane later crashes, this turns out to have been good luck. Look for luck tomorrow and see what happens. It will be interesting to do a little experiment right here and see if anybody can actually increase their good luck. Jonni Kincher www.psychologyforkids.com www.hubpages.com+mike+the+salesman

I had never thought of it as such but you are so right. Thank's for the thought jolt today.
No one buys a lottery ticket thinking they won't win...
You have to believe you are lucky to win.

I cannot agree more with you: luck is just perception. One of our beliefs. If we try to wait the positive outcome of every happening, instead of being angry or disappointed, we can see that everything ALWAYS turns out on the best for everybody. After storm is always sunshine day. When I say so I mean that in every happening we can find something good, some light, some lessons to learn at least some humor.
What we basically need to achieve is just - change of perception (to change point of view) and trust into our inner capability to create luck - positive outcomes.
I must admit that this theory really works, I cannot complain, now I am very lucky, after changing the point of view.
Great hub...wish you all the best.
Thanks.
