Lucky Man song review

No song has moved me as much as "Lucky Man" by country duo Montgomery Gentry.I recall the first time I heard the song.I was seated in a my car waiting for my husband as he filled out yet another job application in downtown Atlanta. It was boiling hot outside and I had a very moody baby in the backseat of my car.To say I was having a bad day would be putting it rather midly.I was fiddling with the radio, trying to find a song that would soothe both the baby and I when for some unknown reason,I stopped at a country station..lucky for me,"Lucky Man" was just coming on and I figured..why not listen, everyone else is playing crap anyway.Halfway through the song I was crying my eyes out!

In order to understand why this song had me crying like a little baby, you have to listen to it yourself and read the lyrics (look further below for the Lucky Man lyrics and Lucky Man Video)

Times had been tough for us as a family and yes,I was seriously bitching about every little thing.I felt life owed me a break.Life owed my family a break. And while I listened to "Lucky Man" by Montgomery Gentry,it suddenly hit me..yes,we were going through a really rough patch BUT we did have food on our table,we could afford gas to go looking for work,we had a fine roof over our heads in an awesome neighborhood,we were healthy and most importantly,we were alive!

I know I sound like such a drama queen but "Lucky Man" really drove the point home for me.I had (and still have) so much to be grateful for,I had absolutely no business to be bitching about every little thing! So when the song ended,I quit whining, dried my eyes and said thank you for each and every little blessing in my life...from my healthy baby to my hardworking husband to that car that will one day be fully paid for-at least it runs perfectly.I also said a prayer for the less fortunate out there...maybe some day, they too will have a ton of things to be grateful for like I do.

I'm grateful Montgomery Gentry decided to sing this song.I don't know if its won any country music awards yet but it gets an A+ in my book for being such a great "pick-me-up" song and a gentle reminder that even when we don't always realise it,we are all lucky and blessed in one way or another.Be sure to call your local country music station and request "Lucky Man" by Montgomery Gentry...you'll be glad you did.

Lucky Man Lyrics

I have days where I hate my job

This little town and the whole world too

Last Sunday when the Bengals lost

Lord it put me in a bad mood

I have moments when I curse the rain

Then complain when the sun's too hot

I look around at what everyone has

And I forget about all I've got

But I know I'm a lucky man

God's given me a pretty fair hand

Got a house and a piece of land

A few dollars in a coffee can

My old trucks still running good

My ticker's ticking like they say it should

I got supper in the oven, a good woman's loving

And one more day to be my little kid's dad

Lord, knows I'm a lucky man

Got some friends who would be here fast

I could call em any time of day

Got a brother who's got my back

Got a mama who I swears a saint

Got a brand new rod and reel

Got a full week off this year

Dad had a close call last spring

It's a miracle he's still here

But I know I'm a lucky man

God's given me a pretty fair hand

Got a house and a piece of land

a few dollars in a coffee can

My old trucks still running good

My ticker's tickin' like they say it should

I got supper in the ove, good woman's loving

And one more day to be my little kid's dad

Lord, knows I'm a lucky man

My old trucks still running good

My ticker's ticking like they say it should

I got supper in the oven, a good woman's loving

And even my bad days ain't that bad

Yeah, I'm a lucky man

I'm a lucky lucky man

Lucky Man video

I looked around for the "Lucky Man" video and the only one I could find is the one below...its a January 2007 "Lucky Man" performance by Montgomery Gentry on the Imus in the Morning program.
