Let me introduce you to Lynn Carey Saylor

I first had the pleasure of meeting Lynn Carey Saylor online back in the days of the original mp3.com, the digital music site that gave unsigned musicians and bands a place to upload their songs. I was immediately impressed with the quality of Lynn's compositions, which she writes, sings and plays guitar on. We became good friends and that friendship has continued over the years.

Lynn has famous friends too - one of whom being Brian May, the legendary guitarist from QUEEN, and Brian thinks enough of her to have contributed his talents to two recordings she made. The first of these was Lynn's limited edition charity single If We Believe that was released in 2002, and to which Brian contributed not only his incredible guitarwork but also some backing vocals.

Lynn donated part of the proceeds of sales for If We Believe to the Mercury Phoenix Trust, an AIDS charity set up by the surviving members of QUEEN and their manager after the tragic death of the band's singer, Freddie Mercury. This beautiful song went on to win awards scooping the IOMA 2005 awards for Best Collaboration (with Brian May), Best Song and Best Cover Art. Lynn also won Best Female Vocal at the same time.

Lynn's online presence and ever-growing fanbase continued to expand with the exposure from her websites where people could check out her songs for themselves and get to find out all about her talents. Myspace has proved a tremendous help to Lynn in this way because she has received several notable offers via its pages. Dean Markley Strings and SPG Guitars have both decided to endorse her music.

Then just last year saw the release of Lynn Carey Saylor's long-awaited debut album You Like It Clean, which features 10 of her own compositions, any of which are chart-quality songs, plus the 1984 Pat Benatar hit We Belong, which once again has Brian May contributing his skills. This song was written by Eric Lowen and Dan Navarro, and the original songwriters help Lynn with her recording too as well as appearing in the video of the session. Eric is sadly suffering the crippling disease ALS but this didn't stop him getting involved in the production of the song he helped write. Lynn's talented producer husband, Skip Saylor, was in control of recording and production for the album at the Skip Saylor Recording Studios in Los Angeles.

Lynn's song I Wasn't A Friend, also on the album, addresses the dangers of drink-driving but without preaching in any way and this track is currently receiving a lot of well-deserved attention. Lynn cares about other people and doing what she can to help change the world for the better, and this shows not only in her actions as a person but is reflected in her lyrics. Besides her own music, Lynn is also in charge of GuitarGirls.com, which as the name suggests, is a site dedicated to promoting the talents of other female singer-songwriter guitarists.

Lynn is about to visit the UK in May, where she has publishers and labels in London interested in her songs. I am not surprised - she is a truly gifted singer-songwriter and it is a real mystery as to why she hasn't been snapped up before and become a chart-topping star. Lynn is also going to be featured on Sue Marchant's BBC radio show, and I think 2008 will be a very memorable year with many great things in store for my friend Lynn Carey Saylor.
