You's and I's

You's and I's

By Andrea M. Beaudoin

Science fiction writers and metaphysical theorists have often envisioned and spoke of strange worlds comprised of different dimensions and parallel universes. Although these unusual and far out theories have been dismissed as impossible in the past, scientists, physicists and mathematicians have proposed a theory which claims parallel universes and multiple dimensions may indeed exist. Based on mathematical equations, the "M-Theory"(Membrane Theory) seems to tie together various laws of physics on a cooperative plane allowing for the possible existence of multiple dimensions and parallel universes. The M-Theory seems to compliment some metaphysical theories such as the Law of Attraction, which has not been proven. Although mathematically harmonious, the dynamics of the M-Theory, like metaphysical theories, also cannot yet be proven.

Experts say the M-Theory, a unification of five different versions of the String Theory, may explain "everything" in the universe- through complexly compatible mathematical equations. The basis of the String Theory unites and mathematically explains the complete workings of electromagnetic force, strong nuclear force, weak nuclear force and gravity (Dine).

According to M-theorists, our universe lies on a three-dimensional membrane or "brane" that floats in a fifth dimension (with the fourth dimension being time). The theory also posts the existence of five higher spatial dimensions, which can generally be ignored, as they are wrapped up in tiny circles far smaller than the radius of a single proton. Because these tiny circles of other dimensions are so small- humans are unable to perceive them. (Nadis)

If the M-Theory is true scientists say it is possible humans could exist in multiple realities. According to the theory this string like matter, which make up everything including you and I, play together like a great symphony in a weird world of hidden space and time dimensions. Each human being could be living several different lives without even knowing it, and your other self is very close, in fact, only a small mathematical fraction away (Tegmark).

These strings, vibrating like the strings of a musical instrument exist on a brane interacting and vibrating back and forth creating our reality. M-Theory proposes that the reality we think we know may not be at all what it seems, rather, we exist in several different dimensions with various types of "branes" which sort of dance together-at times touching. "Scientists believe that these parallel universes exist less than one millimeter away from us. In fact, our gravity is just a weak signal leaking out of another universe into ours" (Greene). In other words, there may be several you's and I's that exist throughout different dimensions of space and time.

"The M-Theory is the most viable candidate for a unified theory of physics which describes all forces of nature, encompassing the physics of gravity as well as quantum field theory" (Tegmark). So, if there are extra dimensions, there may be alternate universes in which the laws of physics are unique to that dimension and invisible to our dimension. "They could be infinitely large, and the reason we don't see them is because we can't move off our brane and we cannot see these other dimensions because we are tied to our own brane." ( qtd. In PBS) The M-Theory compliments the possibilities proposed by metaphysical notions like the law of attraction.

Great philosophers such as Plato transcended the realms of cosmology, astrology, philosophy, science and the mysterious by philosophizing human existence is interwoven in these realms. Plato envisioned a reality consisting of several ever changing dimensions and the soul existing in several realities. Many metaphysical theories are centerd around a souls ability to "pull" together multiple forms of self and live as a higher being . Today, theories such as the law of attraction claim that whatever you spend your time thinking about and feeling will become your reality. According to the as proposed in the theory, this notion is possible due to the vibrations caused by thoughts and feelings. "Your thoughts combined with your feelings, form a sort of "magnet". This magnet pulls in experiences that match your thoughts and feelings ( de Bruin). If, as the M-Theory suggests we are composed of tiny strings vibrating in multiple dimensions, a harmonious relationship could indeed exist between the M-Theory and the law of attraction.

Just as The Law of Attraction claims that humans create their own reality with our thoughts and energy, the M-Theory seems to support the notion that we are a mass of energy living in a universe containing different realities with infinite possibilities. " For thousands of years great philosophers have clamed that humans exist on more than just a physical, we also exist, on a mindful plateau. "Quantum physics really begins to point to this discovery. It says that you can't have a Universe without mind entering into it, and that the mind is actually shaping the very thing that is being perceived," (Bryne 22). And although neither the M-Theory nor The law of attraction theories can yet be proven by the technologies we possess, scientists are working to create machines with the ability to test the science behind the theories. Both the M-Theory and metaphysical theories such as the law of attraction make way for connections to the universe which transcends human consciousness and redefine reality.

THere is a veil that seperates this reallity from others. THere is no proof b ut I know that there is. Dreams often profide us with insight when we remember them I always remember my dreanms and use them as my inspiration.
