HOW TO MAKE ICED TEA!!!

I forget the exact amount of liquids the doctor told me I had to start drinking due to diverticulosis, but it was a lot.  I also had to increase my fiber intake.  Basically, I had to change my entire diet.  Great.  Now what?

Oh, and I had to eliminate caffeine, because it made me have problems also.  So that left milk (I don't drink milk like I used to), juice (can you say, "expensive?"), water (well, that gets old) and tea (hmmm....now there's an idea!).

I actually enjoy tea.  I like it sweet, unfortunately, so then comes the battle between honey and sugar.  Unfortunately, honey is more expensive, so I usually opt for sugar.  But there is nothing like a hot cup of flavored tea with honey before bed.

During the day, I like iced tea.  It is so easy to make, too!  I like to try and mix different flavors.  I use eight tea bags for one pitcher.  I boil a pan of water, and then I remove it from the burner and put the tea bags in.  I let it sit about five or ten minutes.  Then I squeeze the tea bags between two spoons and throw them away.  Then I pour the pan of hot tea into a pitcher with about a cup and a half of sugar (you can use more or less, this is according to your individual taste!).  I let it cool, so that the sugar can dissolve.  When it is cooled a little, I add ice cubes to fill the pitcher to 3/4 full.  The tea is now ready!  I refrigerate between servings.

And there are a multitude of different tea flavorings.  I wasn't fond of the green tea with Jasmine.  That one tasted like I was eating a poisonous plant or something.  But I love the Celestial Seasonings and Archer Farms lines the best.  I am certain, however, that there are many I haven't tried and would love.

On a side note, there are also teas that help with stress (chamomile, among others), constipation (Smooth Moves tea) and even prostrate problems (EZee Flow Tea).   Even the effects of green tea have been proven to be beneficial.  It is amazing how much comfort one can find in a simple cup of hot tea or even a glass of iced tea!
