Utilization of solar energy

Some day or the other how so ever vast may be the resource bank, but constant out take form it would result in exhaustions. Talk about coal or other petroleum product some day or they other the day would come where in we would be left with nothing. . One of the best among the unexplored options is utilization of solar energy. Solar panels are used to utilize solar energy as an energy resource. This has attracted so many people and companies all across. However, making the solar panel is not a child’s play; it’s rather a complicated and delicate process so as to say. It’s only the latter most part of the last century that solar energy and making of solar panel plants have become a little easier. This was only possible due to the break through advancement in technology of semi conductors and that of photovoltaic design. This has made the solar source of energy usable for various industries.



Two different process/ materials

The making of solar panel is possible by the use of two different process/ material:

  • Crystalline Silicon
  • Amorphous Silicon

Crystalline Silicon panels

Crystalline Silicon panels are created by crystalline silicon. It’s cut into tiny disks which are not more than a centimetre thin. Then, it’s carefully checked if there is any damaging because of the slicing process, and if there is it’s polished and glossed. Dopants and metal conductors are smeared across the wafer like think disks. On the top of the panel, the conductors are spread in a grid- like pattern and are aligned in thin sheet on the side facing the earth. For protection, photovoltaic cells are then bonded by a glass cover that is quite thin. Thermal cement conducted is that attached to the panel there by completing the making of solar panel. The cement conducted is attached to keep the solar plant from overheating. As when the solar panel would be using the active solar cells to cover to energy there would be some cells that would not or could not be converted, such cells would let the solar panel to overheat. In this process the efficiency of the solar plant goes for a toss.

Amorphous Silicon Panels

Amorphous Silicon Panels differs in output and power as compared to the traditional crystalline silicon panels. Not to mention the making of solar panels would also differ. In the amorphous silicon panel, amorphous silicon cells from the sun are converted into energy. The continuous roll to roll process ensures deposit of silicon alloys, this is basically is a vapour depositing process. The multiple layers of silicon are excellent in absorbing various parts of the solar spectrum. As the cells in this case are thinner than the once in the crystalline solar process, making of solar panel through amorphous silicon results in a cost effective and efficient system. Shade resistant and multiple circuit technology is also available for Amorphous Silicon Panels. This basically ensures that the circuit of conversion continues rather doesn’t disconnect completely even when the plan is not directly exposed and is in shade.
