BINDU proved all her critics wrong not just once but several times.She shattered the myth back in the early 70's that a married actress could not have a fan-following in Bollywood. Not once to mince words, BINDU never shied away to reveal her marital status and yet her fan-following  was the envy of several lead heroines back then who concealed their hubbies like most hoaders keep undisclosed wealth in tax free safe havens in Swiss banks.

In her very first film Do Raaste that boasted of RAJESH KHANNA with MUMTAZ and PREM CHOPRA opposite her. At that point of time not many knew that the top rated director RAJ KHOSLA was actually her brother in law. So even if she had wanted, she could not have been successful in concealing her marital status...Not that she needed to.

At one point of time in the very early 70's soon after the release of Do Raaste and Zanjeer Bindu was considered the third angle of the vampish sex triangle along with numero uno HELEN & Aruna Irani. No matter who was the villian BINDU always fitted the bill as the vamp or gangster moll on their arm. Right from PRAN & AJIT on one hand to PREM CHOPRA or RANJEET she complimented each one of them and that is what ensured that she was never short of work right through her career when she was soaring in the top bracket.

What goes absolutely to the credit of BINDU is the fact that she was actually a performing artiste and not just another bump and grind sleaze cabaret dancer in films. In a career span that took her through over 150 films only a handful were the bump and grind routine in most others she got to flash her acting prowess along with her dancing skills. Not many vamps got the chance to do a performing role while they were much in demand as bump and grind performers.

But then one must not forget the fact that in her very first film Do Raaste she was a vamp and shrew who played a pivotal role in the film and it was only in Zanjeer that she became 'Mona Darling' to AJIT and thus began an era of Seduction dance numbers from BINDU who gave the vamp an absolutely new dimension in Indian Cinema.

While films like Hawas, Chupa Rustom, Zanjeer,Joshila and several score more films kept BINDU at the top of the vamp slot yet at the same time she also thirsted to show her acting skills as and when she landed meaty roles in films like Abhimaan, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Hero & Hum Aapkey Hain Koun.

In the 30 plus years that Bindu has been in Bollywood she still thirsts for good and challenging roles that do not drag her dignity thru mud or harm her spotlessly clean reputation.
