Misr Digital: Graphic Videos Restored on You Tube

Political activist and Egyptian blogger, Wael Abbas, who was previously "silenced" by You Tube for posting controversial and graphic videos of police brutality in the Middle East, has recently been "un-censored," his videos now restored for public viewing. His web-blog, MISR Digital,reportedly receives over 1,000,000 hits per month. With his videos, Abbas attempts to raise awareness throughout the world that police brutality runs rampant throughout the Middle East, occurring frequently yet kept conveniently stifled by the Egyptian government.

The videos that are said to "push the limit," oftentimes show footage of beatings, torture and horrific treatment by authorities and they are definately not for the weak at heart (or stomach for that matter!). One of his most infamous videos shows actual footage of the Execution of Saddam Hussein.

Although MISR Digital is not written in English, you can view his videos on You Tube by entering the user name waelabbas. I have included the below video as an example of his incredible work. Please be aware, THIS VIDEO IS OF A GRAPHIC NATURE AND MAY BE CONSIDERED OFFENSIVE TO SOME VIEWERS. IF THIS TYPE OF MATERIAL OFFENDS YOU, DON'T WATCH IT!

In November, 2007, Wael Abbas received the Knight International Award for Excellence in Journalism. His poliitical views and explicit videos will hopefully continue to raise awareness and ignite a fire within the hearts of those in the Middle East and throughout the world, as well.
