MODERN DAY SLAVERY
60Modern Day Child Slavery and Starvation
Today in 2009, child slavery still exist, and as painful as it may sound it is the families selling their children into slavery for as little as $20 a year. Yet here in American we waist food daily while many children may be lucky to get a meal in a week and its generally rice or cornmeal something we would not call a full course meal. Slavery has been around since the day of time, and yet in many countries the ritual still lives on. Children are robbed of their childhood and sold into slavery, and beaten, and sometimes beyond recognition, or perhaps their hand or foot will be chopped off, I can't imagine the fear that runs through their veins, while enduring such harsh treatment, not to mention, their bellies aching for food, I can barely even watch programs that show children starving from hunger.
Yet, Africa is one of the riches countries in the world with all the diamonds, minerals, and goods, and yet , children are starving everyday just for food, something simple and non complex, with war, feast and famine, many people cannot plant or harvest a garden as a means of survival, due to so much corruption and no water suppl;y in many areas of he countries, if nothing else everyone should eat. can you imagine how hard it is to go to sleep on an empty stomach just for one day try it for a week. In some countries people are making cookies out of dirt and water and sugar, and this is the meal for the day.
Many children rumble through the garbage, looking for something to eat, or through waist land traveling many miles hoping to find anything that can be consumed, I cant imagine what parasites they may have in their bodies from consuming such waste. yet the leadership and the dictator ship in the countries are powerful and well feed, their need to be better leadership, that will work with the people and their country, and help in the quest to stop hunger, the greed needs to stop, and the child slavery as well as adults and children should be able to live in peace and harmony.
Many children in such countries are born into slavery and start working as little as 2 years of age, and beaten like adults working long hours up to 14 hours a day with one meal if that, or sometimes nothing, I've seen pictures of children working the shores to capture fish for longshoremen seeking to make big profits and children used as slaves enduring all the hard work with no pay, getting up in the wee hours of the morning jumping in water so cold to where many children die or just drown from exhaustion, and tiredness and empty bellies.
I am not sure what it would take to free theses children from such horrible bondage, and yet I feel powerless because it is not my war, yet I can only right about it to hope some form of alliances can be made between our government to work and stop the apartheid a month people, and enslavement, Although, there has been much humanitarian aid working to help many Africans, yet it not stop the war in child slavery. I have sponsored many children in the past, and yet it is just not enough, and yet it is never enough. There are some countries were rebels interfere with children receiving food or humanitarian aid. Although their are many reliefs aids children of today should freed from their long irony of slavery and allowed to live a life that most children would generally want to live.

Great article - It's amazing how easy we can turn the other cheek when the issue does not directly affect us. There are a lot of people suffering in this world and the depth of their suffering is unimagineable. Day in and day out they struggle and the day before is no better than the day after which takes away their hope and outlook for the future. We give lip service and is most cases money but we give none of what is really needed and that is physical service. and the children continues to suffer because of corrupt governments who exploit them for personal gains and greed.
Good information - Thanks for sharing.
