MOISTURIZER- WHICH ONE SUITS YOUR SKIN TYPE?
51Help choosing a moisturizer
A moisturizer increases the water content of your skins top layer. The top layer of your skin is vulnerable to pollution damage which leads to loss of moisture.
When you lose too much moisture your skin will dry out and die. This dead skin or dead cells become flat and rough and comes off when you wash your face. What should you do?
Use a moisturizer because it attracts moisture to skin and locks it in hence reducing lines, making your skin look smooth.
You should choose a moisturizer that best suits your skin. The following are the types of moisturizers and the type of skin that suits;
- If you have normal to slightly dry skin use a lotion. Lotion is a lightweight moisturizer, good under makeup, less oily, fine textured, less greasy on the skin, spreads easily and absorbs easily.
- If you have dry to very dry mature skin use a cream. Cream is a heavier moisturizer, works as an extra moisturizing treatment and is available for day and night. The day cream has a sunscreen and the night is very enriched and heavy duty.
- If you have younger skin, oily skin or skins that break out use a gel. Gel is a light oil-free formulation which attracts water to the skin but does not lock it in. It is easy and comfortable to wear.
- If you have dehydrated skin you should use a serum. Serum is a high powered clear liquid which contains concentrated moisturizing and nourishing ingredients to give skin an intensive boost.
