MOTHERS DAY POEMS FOR MOM
59
Great Program Starter
This next poem can be used as a welcome message in a mothers day program. It is easy to read and easy to memorize. Most Mothers Day programs start off with a few words to welcome all the mothers in attendance. This bit of poetry was used many times throughout the years in many of our Mothers Day salutes.
A WELCOME
No smiles too brigfht to welcome now
Our mothers on their day;
Upon each gracious mothers brow
A tribute fair we lay.
With precious blossoms of the heart
A garland sweet we twine:
A mothers welcome we impart
For they are gifts devine!
So welcome welcome mothers all,
We pray gods blessings true
Upon your pathways ever fall
Your whole loing lifetime through.
FAITH
How beautiful a mother's faith
That looks to God in prayer,
That leans on him for guidance wise
For help with trail and care;
A down the path of years it gleams,
And lightens every way:
A beacon set to led us on
To God's eternal day.
How beautiful a mother's faith
That sees beyond the years
And waits the power of love devine
To banish doubts and fears:
A flame that burns with lasting light
Is motherhoods' blest prayer:
God grant it set the world afire
With glory everywhere!
A FAVORITE POET OF MINE
This poem written by the famous poet Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)
This is a rugged old bit of poetry. Most of the young boys and young men seem to like. I was introduced to his writings when I was a young girl. I have enjoyed his poetry throughout highschool and college and even now.
MOTHER O' MINE
If I were hanged on the highest hill,
Mother o' mine, O mother o' mine!
I know who's love would follow me still,
Mother o' mine, O mother o' mine!
If I were drowned in the deepest sea,
Mother o' mine, O mother o' mine!
I know who's tears would come down to me,
Mother o' mine, O mother o' mine!
If I were damned by body and soul,
I know whose prayers would make me whole,
Mother o' mine, O mother o' mine!
Rudyard Kipling.
