The New MSI Wind U160 Netbook

MSI is has prepped another netbook – the MSI Wind U160. MSI has finally made a smooth creation of an awesome looking, elegant and classic looking netbook.

Like most netbooks recently produced and released, this 1 kg 10.1 inch netbook features Intel’s new Atom N450 CPU, which is designed to offer longer battery life. It has a 6-cell battery that said to last for up to 10 hours of running life.

The Wind U160 is significantly slimmer and lighter than previous Wind models produced. The chassis is also amazingly thinner than prior wind models at an under an inch thick. Its new look definitely gave an elegant and high tech design to the unit. The deck and screen bezel are a subtle gold color with a glossy sheen that MSI calls a “Color Film Print finish.” The lid is a tasteful light brown glossy material with an attractive MSI logo that lights up when the system is on. Most noticeable and attractive of all the design elements is the large round metallic hinge which contains the power button.

The keyboard and the touchpad had major changes as well. It now features a chiclet style keyboard and the touchpad now offers a raised texture and has a palmrest.

Aside from the 1.66 GHz Pine Trail Atom N450 processor, the MSI Wind U160 also comes with 1GB of RAM, 250GB Hard drive, a Windows 7 Starter, and a 10 inch screen with 1024 x 600 resolution. Graphics are provided by Intel’s GMA 3150. It has 2 USB ports on its right side, Ethernet, audio in/output, and a card reader. On the left, it has another USB port and VGA.

This new MSI netbook really is intriguing, yet interesting. With its long battery life and solid performance, packed with a very stylish and sleek design, it definitely represents a great value for your money.
