MTV's the Gauntlet III Episode 6 All Alone
73The Vet guys continue their "secret" mission throwing this week, and the Vet girls claim they will do the same thing right back.
The first challege consists of the sexes of each team trying to move all the players of the opposite team out of a huge circle while both teams hold onto a large log. Having more team members is an obvious advantage in this challenge, and the Rookies expect defeat before the challenge ever begins. Tori says the girls shouldn't even try so that they can save their energy for the inevitable gauntlet. This also means that the Vet guys can't throw this mission in order to save face. As Kenny put it "there's no way these girls are this stupid." The boys are disappointed as they were hoping to send another girl home so they'd not only have a better chance at winning the final mission but also less people to split the money with at the end. Evan is extremely pissed and mocks the camera the Vet guys each win for the challenge. "Great - Now I can videotape all of these ugly girls when we don't win the money in the end." The Vet girls don't seem to care about that, least of all Case who says, while a little too-hyped up "Why do the Rookies even show up for these challenges? Just give us the money!" I don't think she remembers that they don't win money for just the challenges (or that she never contributed to her team's wins for that matter).
The Vets deliberate. They can't save Johanna because she was saved the last time. They choose to saved Rachel, whose army background hasn't made her any sort of competitor in these challenges, and are now torn between Tori and Melinda for who to send into the gauntlet. Danny goes psycho during the deliberation continually saying that there are other people that could go in and taking the team choosing Melinda as a personal assault on him. Danny can't stop the team from voting in his fiancee. "This isn't the love boat Danny" Casey tells the confessional. "We're kicking your girlfriend off!" Why is Casey suddenly trying to be a badass?
The real drama comes when the Rooks have to decide who to send into the gauntlet against Melinda. Going with the previous team votes, Melinda tells the team that she wants to go against Jillian, and she announces to the team that if they don't go with her wishes, when she comes back she will backstab every last one of her teammates. Ryan is extremely turned off by this announcement and feels that regardless of how it's been before, it's unfair for Jillian to go into the gauntlet for a 4th time. The team also is not in the mood to go with Melinda's wishes after being told that she would backstab them. The team also didn't appreciate Tori's bad attitude at the challenge, and feel that she should go in.
The Rookies announce that it will be Tori, indeed, who will go against Melinda, and Melinda, still not helping the situation, shouts "Way to go Rookies, send in your 2 strongest girls!" What is Johanna mince meat?
The wheel is spun, and it lands on ball brawl. Tori then announces that she will not compete in the gauntlet, because she doesn't want to go back to her team and the game is getting too ugly for her. Danny is doing cartwheels in his head while Brad, Tori's challenge hook-up, runs out to Tori and tells her that she is not a quitter. Tori continues crying and says that Melinda is one of her best friends. Brad again tells her that it's not like her to quit. Finally, after a lot of needless drama, Tori agrees to compete in the gauntlet.
Tori wins the first 2 balls in ball brawl, and decides to let Melinda have the 3rd. Tori wins the final ball leaving Johanna in tears and Danny pacing with his hands on his head. Danny and Melinda share a long embrace and say goodbye for now. What is the deal with their engagement by the way, are they really/ever getting married?
Tori doesn't go back to her team a happy camper - She says that she might as well put on a red jersey because her team disgusts her.
After Danny's farewell to Melinda, Johanna overhears him calling her a backstabbing whore. Johanna charges at Danny, almost reminiscent of Johanna and Wes' brawl during The Duel. Johanna screams at Danny "How was I supposed to control the vote" Danny argues that Johanna didn't even try to stand up for Melinda. Johanna stomps away insulting him in Spanish. Danny yells that he doesn't understand Spanish, and she reminds him that he's not Kenny or Evan, and he's not funny.
Jillian and Tori also have words for each other. Tori is pissed at her team, and Jillians tells her that she's being immature and how dare she suggest not trying in the mission to save her energy for the gauntlet. Jillian thinks that Tori lets her feelings get too involved in the game, which is obviously true as Tori confesses to the camera that she doesn't want to see her team walk away with a dime and she can't wait to see one of the guys on the team go home. She said she will throw missions until Frank, in particular, goes home.
Tori has a different attitude the next morning, however, after cuddling with Brad. She knows now that the Rookies have to work together as a team. With only 3 Rookie guys left, if the team loses the next mission, 2 of them are automatically going into the gauntlet.
Looking ahead to the next girl's gauntlet, Ev is making it known that she wants to go against Coral. She has a vendetta against Coral that goes back to the Duel, and even the team is starting to agree that all Coral has is her mouth and she's not the fierce competitor that everyone assumes she is. She's also stabbed a lot of people in the back and doesn't have all the alliances that she used to in these challenges. It's a whole new generation of competitors and Coral has now moved from the in-crowd to Generation Beth. Coral seems to know that she's on the chopping block and is perhaps wearing out her appeal on these challenge, and never underestimates that someone might want to send her home.
