Mac or Windows? Which have you used, and which do you like better?

I have only used Windows. For utilizing a computer for text and messaging, I am happy that I have Windows simply because it appears to have the most text and messaging possibilities. Also, for taking data in laboratories and/or in the field, there are field rated computers and specialized programs that run exclusively on Windows.

On the other hand, for most of my work in graphics, I wish I had a Mac because it seems to be easier and faster to use. I sometimes envy people who use an Apple for visual art because their work, in my opinion, seems to be just a bit more professional. Generally speaking, Apple pioneered computer image creation and certainly seems to be ahead in providing an OS that is more suitable for graphics.

I had considered changing, but I have a lot of money invested in Windows software. The software value makes the cost of a new computer insignificant, so here I am in Windows with all my Windows software. Indeed, there are programs which allow Windows software to be used on a Mac and I understand that such dual capability is now built into new Macs. At this point, I might be tempted to get an Apple. But I'm somewhat satisfied running Windows Vista, so will stay with what I am used to and what I presently have.

It comes down to what a person uses a computer for. For general use, Windows is probably better. However, for graphic artists, Apple comes out ahead.

Get a mac, that's all I can say. Do it, forget the applications you use on Windows, keep the pc for the odd things you want to do, docs, solitare etc. But Get a mac. It's not because of the hype or the advertising. It's the beauty of using a mac. Check out my hub: http://hubpages.com/hub/switchingOS and you'll see what I mean.
