People, myself included, go through life thinking nothing bad will ever happen to me. My favorite way to prepare is with non-lethal self-defense products such as stun guns, pepper sprays or tasers. They will send the message, but not hurt your attacker, which simplifies things because if you kill the guy, then you gotta deal with the police, and possibly a trial to see if it really was self-defense.
