The internet has made it so much easier to apply for a job. Most major stores have online job applications that can be completed from the comfort of your home or wherever you can gain access to a computer and the internet. Macy’s Department Store is no exception. Here’s how to go about filling out a job application online on Macy’s Department Store website.

Go to www.macys.com. Most websites have a link at the bottom of the home page that will take you to their employment section. Macy’s does not. So enter “job application” in the search tool at the top left of the store front home page. This will take you to a separate website: www.macysjobs.com and a map an interactive map of the United States. Highlight your state and click.

Once you have reached the next page you will have a lot of options. You may first wish to follow the link “Job Overviews” that will take you to a page that provides a list of all of Macy’s job options and what each entails and what they are looking for in the applicant. You can also follow a link to “career path” that will describe where each job will potentially lead.

At any point you can click on a search icon in the left column of each page labeled “search jobs”. You then enter a keyword of the position you are interested in and the location. If there are jobs available you will be taken to a page that lists each one with a link to an application.

To fill out the application you must first create a user name and password. You will also be asked for your email address and to provide a security question and answer. At this point you can upload your resume if you have one. If you do not you simply follow the link that says “save and continue”. A full application will follow.

Whenever you are filling out a job application online it is helpful to gather everything you will need ahead of time. This usually includes:

• Social Security Number
• Driver’s License Information
• Employment History – Names and Dates
• Education History – Schools and Dates
• References – Professional and Personal

The Macy’s online job application allows you to save a partially completed application and return to it at a later time. You will need your username and password to access it once you have exited the site. The application is a standard application and will take you anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes to complete. There are 13 steps to completing this particular application.

Once your application is completed you can save it or submit it. There is also a “Print” option. It is always helpful to keep a copy of all completed applications, both for your records and for completing any future applications.
